The Pickled Weasel

Sunday, 31 May 2015. So, I'm back. Maybe just for one post, maybe for a squillion, who knows. We'll see. The reason for my return is this competition. From Simplicity patterns. And here is my entry:. I look a little surprised.maybe it's because my mouth has been replaced by a giant flower? I'm calling it the Owl Tunic, for obvious reasons when you look at the fabric up close. I used the lovely free pattern. Fabric up close in all its feathery glory. I must admit, I do love a bit of understitching :).

The Pickled Weasel: A little winter warmer

http://thepickledweasel.blogspot.com/2010/11/little-winter-warmer.html

Sunday, 28 November 2010. A little winter warmer. Tis frosty cold out there, and although we've escaped most of the snow, we've just come back from a weekend at my sister-in-laws where there was plenty of it. It was almost touch and go as to whether we'd make it back, but it was fine once we got west of Leeds. I picked up some snuggly brushed cotton at Abakhan. Last week, and I loved the colours so much I bought 2m so I could make Munchkin a few things from it - the first being a Kitschy Coo tunic. I'm t...

The Pickled Weasel: Crafting with Munchkins - Scrappy be-jewelled trinket box

http://thepickledweasel.blogspot.com/2010/02/crafting-with-munchkins-scrappy-be.html

Thursday, 4 February 2010. Crafting with Munchkins - Scrappy be-jewelled trinket box. A box with a lid. Scraps of fabric, long enough to go over the top of your box. Glue - pva is probably best. Cut your fabric into long strips so that they will go across the width of your box lid. Mine were about an inch wide, and I used pinking shears to make them look a bit prettier :) If your munchkin is big enough they can do this themselves, but I pre-cut mine. You're a control freak. 5 February 2010 at 07:51.

The Pickled Weasel: Covered pin board tutorial

http://thepickledweasel.blogspot.com/2009/10/covered-pin-board-tutorial.html

Saturday, 10 October 2009. Covered pin board tutorial. Here is my very first tutorial, and it's not about clothes for Munchkin, which surprised even me :). Here's what you'll need:. A sturdy cork board of some description, preferably round. I don't know how much the Ikea ones were, but I'd imagine they were cheap. Fabric to cover your board with. You'll need a 2" border, so make sure the piece you choose is big enough. Embroidery thread that co-ordinates with your chosen fabric. Now you need to cut your ...

The Pickled Weasel: Floaty Ghosts - tutorial for munchkins

http://thepickledweasel.blogspot.com/2009/10/floaty-ghosts-tutorial-for-munchkins.html

Friday, 30 October 2009. Floaty Ghosts - tutorial for munchkins. However, I did have an original idea of my own (gasp! Here's a quick and easy tute on how to make a Floaty Ghost. A pencil/pen for bodging a hole. White tissue paper / crepe paper / kitchen roll torn into strips. Glue (the runny stuff, pritt stick isn't strong enough). Little round stickers (or a black marker pen). Elastic - I used shirring elastic. 1 Cut a 'bobble' of egg box out. 2 Bodge a hole in the top of the bobble with your pencil.

Living the Spacious Life: February 2011

http://livingthespaciouslife.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Thursday, February 10, 2011. Tutorial: Lazy Bubble Skirt. Thus, I give you: the lazy bubble skirt. I hesitate to say *easy* since one step is a little tricky but it's the laziest possible way I can think of to construct a cute, poofy skirt for a little girl from about 12m - 5T or so. Approx 1/2 yard of shell (main) fabric. Approx 1/2 yard of lining fabric. 1/2 yard of VERY soft and stretchy 1/4" elastic. I like knit elastic for this. For a stiffer elastic you might want to allow a little more. Step 2: Cu...

8230;when two become three and start a new life in Auckland. Laquo; From Mini to Mainstream. Apologies for the late post been feeling a little bit fragile today after our date last night. Woo hoo first proper night out as a couple in about 6 months and it rocked. We will need to sell some body organs to pay for it though, so it’s probably lucky that we don’t go out that often. Dinner and drinks at Kermadec. We then had drinks at Sky City. Taking place around the city and the weather really is at its best...

Living the Spacious Life: April 2011

Wednesday, April 27, 2011. End radio silence. Ask a bunch of questions. Resume radio silence. First question. Is there anything cuter than this? Wait Before you answer, look at this. Eric won tickets to Sesame Street Live and Rylee and I went last night for a girls' night out with some BFFs. I didn't make an Easter dress for Rylee this year so I would have time to make matching Elmo groupie outfits. It's about priorities. I got the Elmo applique pattern from this Etsy seller. Since there was only one cam...

Living the Spacious Life: August 2010

Thursday, August 12, 2010. A glass is half-full kind of morning. We'll just call taking your diaper off so you can surreptitiously poop by your art easel a "potty training readiness sign.". Living the Spacious Life: July 2010

http://livingthespaciouslife.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 16, 2010. Rylee and I are taking wing to Michigan again. Some cousin-y goodness, some grubby camp fun and then some beach time with Daddy. Should be a hoot! I'll try to post pictures and what-not. Monday, July 12, 2010. My very first commission! I made this for a friend for her daughter's birthday. She bought the fabric and paid me in a precious barter more valuable than gold: a night of baby sitting. Woot! It's the same design as Rylee's ladybug and monkey dresses. Saturday, July 10, 2010.

Living the Spacious Life: Kitschy Coo Pettiskirt, Version One, Lessons Learned

http://livingthespaciouslife.blogspot.com/2010/09/kitschy-coo-pettiskirt-version-one.html

Monday, September 13, 2010. Kitschy Coo Pettiskirt, Version One, Lessons Learned. Because princess-itis has seized our household - earlier and with greater intensity than I could have ever imagined - I decided the time has come to venture into tulle territory. I didn't enter lightly, having wandered on these plains of desperation, climbed these cliffs of insanity while sewing a Tinkerbell costume ten years ago. But motherhood has its costs and pay them we must. 4 Even if you spend an entire nap time (PLU...
