SAM SLATER ARCHITECTURE: UNDERSTANDING PHASE CHANGE
http://samslaterarchitecture.blogspot.com/2012/01/understanding-phase-change.html
Monday, January 30, 2012. As part of the class 'Radical Representations' I am investigating the idea of phase change, specifically looking at it through the lense of 'the event'. Through multi-layered overlays, these drawings begin to look at the phenomenology of the process of phase change, studying the pattern logic, effect and molecular result of this ubiquitous mechanism. This diagram looks at the embedded impurities found in water and the purification process that occurs though the evaporation event.

SAM SLATER ARCHITECTURE: Manifesting the Project Based Learning Environment
http://samslaterarchitecture.blogspot.com/2011/09/manifesting-project-based-learning.html
Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Manifesting the Project Based Learning Environment. Thesis Design Experiment #4. For my final design experiment I created a matrix of formal possibilities that might engender potential for PBL. Open enclosure and implicit and explicit spaces of various sizes combine with a simple formal tectonic to create project spaces for different sized groups. View my complete profile. Simple template. SAM SLATER ARCHITECTURE: Radical Representations moves into Maya and Metal Ray
http://samslaterarchitecture.blogspot.com/2012/03/radical-representations-moves-into-maya.html
Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Radical Representations moves into Maya and Metal Ray. That is the take away from the last few weeks of messing around with this great programme. This is a continuation of the phase change drawings that I did earlier in the term. Keep in mind this is still early days with this programme so more is still to come as I get to grips with it! SAM SLATER ARCHITECTURE: Term starts with a BANG with the CCA all-school warm-up charrette
http://samslaterarchitecture.blogspot.com/2011/09/term-starts-with-bang-with-cca-all.html
Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Term starts with a BANG with the CCA all-school warm-up charrette. Our proposal projected 200 years into the future and propounded a time where massive over population resulted in radical changes to the way that the city is comprised. Our design revolved around the question - what role does an architecture and design school play in a futuristic world? How does the school retain a relevant dialogue with the surrounding city? The designer must engage with the full spectrum of s...

SAM SLATER ARCHITECTURE: EXPERIMENTS IN FOUCAULDIAN SPATIAL CONTROL
http://samslaterarchitecture.blogspot.com/2011/11/experiments-in-foucauldian-spatial.html
Sunday, November 6, 2011. EXPERIMENTS IN FOUCAULDIAN SPATIAL CONTROL. In attempting to manifest my ideas on control within learning environments, I have moved into the physical realm. Foucault states that "discipline sometimes requires enclosure". Which eventually becomes "the protected place of disciplined monotony". How does the concrete perform when contained in total buoyancy (i.e. the body forces are equal to the environmental forces)? View my complete profile. Simple template. Powered by Blogger.

SAM SLATER ARCHITECTURE: DESCHOOLING GREENVILLE
http://samslaterarchitecture.blogspot.com/2011/11/version1.html
Sunday, November 6, 2011. In Northern California, where the Sierra Nevadas meet the Cascade Range, lies a small community called Greenville. The town is small and, along with its neighbours throughout Indian Valley, paints an idyllic picture of rural simplicity. They say there that you can never pop out to run an errand, because you will meet someone you know, and be drawn into a conversation that may last 5 minutes or all afternoon. High-school grade falls below the California average in every. Subject&...
