TVB - Early Bird: Triumph Hurdle
http://tvb-earlybird.blogspot.com/p/triumph-hurdle.html
TVB - Early Bird. You have to love the way unexposed horses are hyped up to be the greatest things since Pegasus – and then dismissed as soon as any sign of fallibility is seen…. Sprinter Sacre is an example of such a horse. He is currently viewed as the second coming – potentially the greatest 2 mile chaser ever to grace our land. If he does win the Arkle, comparisons with Flying Bolt will doubtless follow (you non old timers need to get out google at this point ;) ). The truth of the matter, is that Mi...

TVB - Early Bird: Cheltenham Day 4
http://tvb-earlybird.blogspot.com/2012/03/cheltenham-day-4.html
TVB - Early Bird. Friday, 16 March 2012. Another tremendous days racing – though from a betting perspective, it was more about what might have been…. Sir Des Champs was hugely impressive wining the opening contest – so much so, that I had a small play on him for next years Gold Cup, at the 12/1 offered post race. The horse seems to have everything – and Willie Mullins is adamant that he will be better over further, next season. He really is something to look forward to…. The Ryanair was an absolutely bri...

TVB - Early Bird: Maruary monthly summary
http://tvb-earlybird.blogspot.com/2012/03/maruary-monthly-summary.html
TVB - Early Bird. Sunday, 18 March 2012. It might seem a little over the top producing a monthly report for the final ’month’ of the TVB project and a closing report – but that’s what I intend to do. I’ve produced monthly reports for all of the previous months, so for consistency, I want to produce one for 'Maruary'. Diligent readers will recall that Maruary is the month I created, to cover the final 2 weeks of. Obviously, my tipping came to an end after Cheltenham). 28 selections (in 27 races). The rati...

Sporting Value: What to do about Gowi
http://sportingvalue.blogspot.com/2014/08/what-to-do-about-gowi.html
Transitioning form portfolio betting (other people's ideas) to my own statistics based selections. Monday, 18 August 2014. What to do about Gowi. I concluded last month that the next post (this one) would be dominated by two services, Club Gowi and Tennisratings, but I feel I am ready to pass judgement on the former, but not quite the latter. Having now collected 6 months worth of bets from Gowi, it felt like the perfect time to delve deeper into the numbers. 8221;, before promptly losing 3-0! 8211; I wo...

TVB - Early Bird: 'Cheltenham Special'
http://tvb-earlybird.blogspot.com/p/special-preview.html
TVB - Early Bird. The ‘Cheltenham Special’ will work in broadly the same way that the current tipping operates…. The Cheltenham festival runs from Tuesday 13. March to Friday 16. The final declarations for the majority of the races (excluding the Grade 1 contests) will be released just before noon, on the previous day. 8216;Day of the race’ prices (as opposed to ante-post prices) for all of the following days races, will be released by bookmakers throughout the afternoon/early evening. Also, I will not p...

TVB - Early Bird: February 2012
http://tvb-earlybird.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
TVB - Early Bird. Wednesday, 29 February 2012. 1st March - Selection rationale. It’s funny how things pan out…. I have a daily routine when I’m tipping, that starts with me looking at the following days declarations at lunchtime (just after they have been released). That enables me to get a feel for the next day’s racing and to establish if there are likely to be any tips (I look for suitable races and familiar horses! The third and final step takes place when the bookmakers issue their early prices.

TVB - Early Bird: April 2012
http://tvb-earlybird.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
TVB - Early Bird. Wednesday, 4 April 2012. As there have already been 26 positive responses to the proposal, I am pleased to confirm that the 'Aintree Special' will indeed be produced. I've every confidence that I will get at least 4 more takers in the next few days and I would rather commit to it now and start the ball rolling, than wait until the target 30 has been reached. Just a quick confirmation of how things will work:. And these will be issued any time from Sunday onwards. Generally though, tips ...

Matt On Form: 27th April
http://matt-on-form.blogspot.com/2013/04/27th-april.html
Friday, 26 April 2013. Been a very busy week for me hence the reason I've not been on here for a few days, I can't see that changing to be honest so I will have to make do with getting on and looking at the racing when I do get a bit of free time! I missed most of the Punchestown festival but I did take not of the price of Quvega (! Unbelieveable that she was allowed to go off as long as she did and had I noticed soon enough she would have been a max bet cest la vie. Looking on to tomorrow then. If you d...

TVB - Early Bird: Ryanair Chase
http://tvb-earlybird.blogspot.com/p/ryanair-chase_09.html
TVB - Early Bird. Though I say it myself, I think Somersby is a cracking wager for the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham festival. Ante-post punting is full of risks, so you need to try and make sure you’ve got the fundamentals covered:. You want to be sure that your selection is being targeted at the race: Check. You want your selection to be able to handle the likely going: Check. You want you selection to have previous festival form: Check. When it is priced at 20/1, you have a very good bet! Somersby m...

TVB - Early Bird: Cheltenham round-up
http://tvb-earlybird.blogspot.com/2012/03/cheltenham-round-up.html
TVB - Early Bird. Friday, 16 March 2012. The final brilliant day of an unbelievable festival – with AP and Synchrionsied putting the cherry on top of the cake. I’ll summarise the whole meeting at the end - but first a few words on the day…. It started with victory in the Triumph hurdle for outsider Countrywide Flame. As I said last night, I hadn’t got a clue what would win the race – but I certainly wouldn’t have put that one up! Grand Vision ran an absolute screamer in the Albert Bartlett, to finish thi...
