The Tech Booth: Stage lighting 101
http://tech-booth.blogspot.com/2007/03/stage-lighting-101.html
Friday, March 9, 2007. Why Do I need Stage Lighting? The short answer is, depending on your performance space, you don’t. In fact I have included a tutorial on building your own from halogen work lamps that can be purchased for around ten dollars apiece. While makeshift lights like these can be fun they are limited. They also can get very hot and tend not to last as long as stage lights. There are three basic kinds of traditional stage lights: A par can or spotlight, a fresnel, and an ellipsoidal. Is a s...

http://sceneshop.blogspot.com/2007/03/no-fly-floor-no-problem-rolling.html
Monday, March 12, 2007. Tired of single backdrop sets, or worse yet a plain blue cyc. Try this simple and inexpensive solution! When we renovated our store front space. So I went to take a look. I found that he had used a roller (the bottom piece that the cloth rolls onto) made of 6" PVC pipe. The Tech Booth: March 2007
http://tech-booth.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 10, 2007. Make your own stage lighting. Did you know they sell stage lighting at the hardware. Well okay, it needs a smidge of customizing, but follow these instructions and you should have no problem taking work light, to stage light. First, assemble your materials. You will need: One halogen worklight. I used the 500 Watt variety to provide maximum illumination, and a good range for dimming. One rectangle heating register starter collar. Cut the register collar. After giving the spray a...

http://the-boxoffice.blogspot.com/2009/02/three-rules-to-run-box-office-by-first.html
Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Three rules to run a box office by:. First: The customer is always right. Even when they are wrong, let them know that their concerns are legitimate. Fix it if you can, if you can't then sympathize, but if they are not endangering anyone or causing a scene, do your best to make them want to come back, and hopefully bring friends! Keep plenty of change, extra receipts, pens. And whatever else you might need. Again, you want them to come back. Third: The show's the thing! The Lob...

Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Be Frugal, Not Cheap! Doing quality work always pays off. We recently began hiring a printer to make our show bills (posters) with tremendous results.
