The Purple Pack Project. Dragging my pack to Ghana and back. Last Impressions on Making First Impressions. August 24, 2014. With one week left in Ghana, I’ve been thinking more and more about the impression I’m leaving behind when I get on that flight out of Accra on August 27. I would argue that in many cases the opposite is true. In traditional Ghanaian families it is much more normal to share wealth with extended family members or close friends than in Canada. Although no matter what I said, h...Other...

The Purple Pack Project. Dragging my pack to Ghana and back. All Fun and No Work? June 26, 2014. June 26, 2014. Many of you might be wondering why I’m spending my time bouncing around Ghana. As much as my placement is about experiencing the country, I have a job that informs where and when I stay in the villages and towns I have written about here. I am helping Kulemela Investments. The Purple Pack Project. Dragging my pack to Ghana and back. Akwaaba, Abenah. Welcome, Ingrid. May 31, 2014. May 31, 2014. So, why are you here? I had arrived in Ghana feeling like a tank. I was so padded with engorged hiking backpacks that if I had been hit by a tro tro (mini van used like a city bus) I might have dented its already dimpled metal frame. So, why are you here? By the end of my three days in the village, I felt like I was slowly finding my legs in Ghana. I had jumped into the deep end ...

https://thepurplepackproject.wordpress.com/about
The Purple Pack Project. Dragging my pack to Ghana and back. The name of this blog may have largely been chosen because it alliterates, but since I’ve cemented it in place it has grown to carry new meaning for me. This backpack will be my companion as I travel overseas this summer to work with Kulemela Investments, an investment company that offers growth financing to small and medium-sized agribusinesses in Ghana, from May until August. Kulemela is a venture of Engineers Without Borders Canada (EWB).

A lot of stories. August 7, 2013. I fell into a hole the other night. It was quite the ordeal. I was walking with my host sister, Saluwa, on an evening errand to buy some phone credit. We were crossing a busy-ish street, and were hastening across to the other side. As we got closer, we started walking we’d made it. And then I was on my back at the bottom of somewhere dark and cement-y. It felt dark and deep and damp, and my first instinct was to get myself out who knew what was down there? And it took a ...

Not exactly positive notes to end my journey on, but spirits were still relatively high and reflective. That all changed when we missed our flights home two days later because we couldn’t get our passports back in time, but I digress. The end of August saw me through some bureaucracy and, in my privileged definition of the word,. I have informed myself of the date and time!

The Purple Order of Spiritual Christians
The paradox is that it is these bureaucrats who are responsible for bringing human beings back to God. But after that mission is accomplished, those same bureaucrats begin to brainwash their new members into elitist exlcusionary money contributing supporters. Jesus started no church. Jesus built no buildings. Jesus accumulated no assets. Jesus had nothing good to say about the Jewish religious bureaucrats of his day. The greatest paradoxs of Christianity in contemporary society are the men and women who ...
