the queen travels: February 2014
http://thequeentravels.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 28, 2014. The Panama Canal in living, moving color. The Panama Canal, 100 years old … A $440 million marvel, a dream of men in the 1800s. A completion by men (and probably many women, too) in 1914. A project completed under budget at $337 million. Today was the day (Tuesday, February 25, 2014, Day 10), to complete the mission we’d set out to accomplish on this trip … to cruise the Panama Canal. We’d spent the night anchored off Fuerte Amador after spending the day on shore. Coming from t...

the queen travels: April 2014
http://thequeentravels.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 12, 2014. It's all in the ruins . at Casa Grande. Arizona is full of things to see, but I don’t usually linger when I’m here because it’s always in July or August, the hottest time of the year. I melt and want to get out and back in to Phoenix as quickly as possible. This year has been way different. Jaz and I were riding in March, which is mostly perfect T-shirt-riding weather, although we had times we had to wear jackets, too, and thought that 70-degree weather was freezing. He appeared...

the queen travels: A break in Belgrade
http://thequeentravels.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-break-in-belgrade.html
Saturday, August 1, 2015. A break in Belgrade. I think it's odd I'm staying off Jackrabbit Lane but all I've seen are cottontails. On Thursday, July 30, I was up before Jan left for work. Then I tended to some chores, like washing clothes, working on and posting a blog, going for a neighborhood walk. And drinking coffee … three big cups, more than usual. I was wired and it was time to get out there. My walk was quite pleasant, with lots of flowers in the residential neighborhoods. They're up on the walls.

the queen travels: Surrounding Sturgis
http://thequeentravels.blogspot.com/2015/08/surrounding-sturgis.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2015. On Sunday, August 2, I was up again at 7 am. First thing I did was look for deer. Yep, they’re there. Drinking coffee and watching deer. There were three of them laying down and eating. I kept an eye on them and worked on a blog. I love this place where Lenny and Missy are and wonder if I could live here if I had a place like this where there is a bit of land and deer coming around all the time. The first ride of the day goes to Sampson. We rode, and rode, and rode. There were ...

the queen travels: Custer and lunch with friends
http://thequeentravels.blogspot.com/2015/08/custer-and-lunch-with-friends.html
Monday, August 3, 2015. Custer and lunch with friends. On Saturday, August 1, I was late in getting up. I think it was about 7 am. I’d not slept well the previous couple of nights for who knows what reason, but I’d certainly slept well this time. Coffee was the first thing on the agenda. Actually, it was second as I had to look out the window to see if there were any deer. Yep, there were two. It’s a thrill to see them so often. Would I get tired of seeing deer? I don’t get tired of seeing moose. Sunshin...

the queen travels: January 2014
http://thequeentravels.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 28, 2014. The Baton Rouge Zoo looks like the perfect place . everything you could imagine a super zoo would have. Once the export permit arrived, it was just a matter of a few days. Executive Director Heather would make his flight reservations, and it looked like he’d be on his way the middle of the week. Yay, you’re almost on your way, Will O. 65279;. But again, yet another problem. This bird’s second name should be “Trouble.”. I talked to Heather and thought perhaps we had a Plan B.

the queen travels: August 2015
http://thequeentravels.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 31, 2015. Out of the madness and back on the road. It's time to get this trip finished, blog-wise, as, you guessed it, I'm gone again. On Tuesday, August 4, I woke late, and saw that Biker Bill was online. I phoned home and chatted for a bit, letting him know I was heading out. The deer were scarce this morning (did they know I was leaving? And there was a heavy fog coming in over the mountains. I watched as I talked with him. What a great view from her window … buffalo butt! It’s be...

the queen travels: August 2014
http://thequeentravels.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 21, 2014. 7,205 miles in a month with weekends off for good behavior. Friday morning (August 15), I was up early. I got the bike loaded and went to see what they had for breakfast. I just really don’t much care for breakfast but I did have a banana that held me over for a very long time. I’d spoken to some guy in the parking lot, whose young son was enthralled with the bike. He said Highway 117 from 40 down to Quemado, New Mexico, to Highway 60 was a great road. Water across the road.

the queen travels: Custer bound ... look out, Lenny and Missy
http://thequeentravels.blogspot.com/2015/08/custer-bound-look-out-lenny-and-missy.html
Sunday, August 2, 2015. Custer bound . look out, Lenny and Missy. On Friday, July 31, I was up about 6:30 to visit with Jan before she got off to work, and to drink coffee in the hopes of waking up. Then it was time … getting ready, loaded up and on the road, heading to Custer, South Dakota, to Missy and Lenny’s place where I’d light for another few days while I experienced the wonders of the 75. Anniversary of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Sheridan, Wyoming, Gillette, Wyoming, Moorcroft, Wyoming. I noti...
