Moving on up: December 2011
http://keksmovingonup.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
What WERE we thinking? Thursday, December 29, 2011. Yes, the hail really WAS that big! Melbourne copped a you-beaut storm on Christmas Day (thanks SO much, Mother Nature), which you can read all about over here. We were lucky in that our house is undamaged; not so lucky when it comes to cars. but hey, stuff can be fixed. It's unfortunate that even with insurance, there's mega-bucks involved, but lots of people are worse off than us, so I'm not moaning too loudly. Before - Christmas morning. After a full-...

http://keksmovingonup.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
What WERE we thinking? Saturday, March 26, 2011. One year on - part 2. And a closer view:. Yep, those tiny wisps of dichondra "silver falls" on the right of the first photo have gone crazy, as you can see. I'm going to have to get busy with the secateurs to stop it swamping the dwarf mondo grass. Links to this post. Saturday, March 19, 2011. Links to this post. Sunday, March 6, 2011. That just about completes the planting in our garden now. I can sit back and watch everything grow for a while. :). Oh, wa...

Moving on up: September 2013
http://keksmovingonup.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
What WERE we thinking? Thursday, September 5, 2013. Wow, it's been a long time. I'm probably talking to myself by now. Well, you know, life gets busy and things slow down on the home front when you've been in your house for a while, so there hasn't been a lot to blog about. I have a few updates which I do plan to get around to posting. I'm working through a small list of projects at the moment, some of which aren't all that interesting, but there are a couple that I think are worth sharing. We moved into...

Moving on up: From the "things we wish we'd known" files
http://keksmovingonup.blogspot.com/2012/01/from-things-we-wish-wed-known-files.html
What WERE we thinking? Monday, January 9, 2012. From the "things we wish we'd known" files. We learned many lessons through the experience of building a home, and over the past three years I've been more than happy to give others advice on how to avoid some similar dramas, inconvenience or cost. I wish someone had done me the same favour. At around the same time, our neighbours installed a new kitchen too. They had a bigger budget than us and I was envious of their stone benchtops and. Watching TV in the...

Moving on up: What's better than breakfast?
http://keksmovingonup.blogspot.com/2011/12/whats-better-than-breakfast.html
What WERE we thinking? Sunday, December 11, 2011. What's better than breakfast? Second breakfast, of course! And it's improved even further when a new cafe opens up just a short walk away in a restored farmhouse. That dates back to the mid-1800s. We found a flyer in our letterbox last week, advertising the new eatery and could barely wait for the weekend to arrive so we could try it out. Love that local bluestone. It was quarried from the river bank only a few hundred metres away:. We've waited quite a f...

Moving on up: D.I.Y. A.D.D.
http://keksmovingonup.blogspot.com/2010/09/diy-add.html
What WERE we thinking? Tuesday, September 28, 2010. I probably should finish one thing before starting on another. But, you know. there's all that time spent waiting. Waiting for paint stripper to work, for stain to dry, etc, etc. Besides, I get bored easily. Must have a short attention span. So I have three projects on the go at the moment. 1 Lamps. So far, the bases have been primed and painted matte black. I need to give them a coat or two of satin poly, I think they're turning out OK:. I don't know i...

Moving on up: September 2011
http://keksmovingonup.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
What WERE we thinking? Sunday, September 4, 2011. Three coats and a light sand between:. And I've managed to change the eBay photo into a format that will work with Blogger. So here's the "Before":. In case you're wondering what I used. We're huge fans of the Intergrain. Range of products. They're water-based, low-odour and Australian made. I used Nature's Timber Oil. Links to this post. I've been watching eBay for ages, searching for the perfect carved timber daybed for our alfresco room. I've seen ...
