Movie Review: The Act of Killing, directed by Joshua Oppenheimer. I had not intended to put up another post for a while, but after listening to an interview with Joshua Oppenheimer on Sam Harris’s podcast. I decided to watch Oppenheimer’s documentary. The Act of Killing. What I found compelled me to write a review here immediately. This trailer does not do the documentary justice, so I highly encourage you to find. The Act of Killing. On Netflix and just start streaming it from start to finish. When I at...

Book Review: "Milk and Honey" by Rupi Kaur. Naïve clichés are the standard fruit of labor whenever pots write about love, loss, heartbreak, and life. It takes a talented writer to convey the pain and beauty of life without resorting to hackneyed expressions about finding one’s self and becoming whole once more. Rupi Kaur’s latest bestselling collection of poems,. Milk and Honey,. One of the primary topics covered in. Ndash;i have been both. Milk and Honey,. 8203; by Rupi Kaur. Thanks for letting me ramble.

Plato at the Googleplex: Why Philosophy Won't Go Away,. Plato at the Googleplex. Goldstein doesn't stop with just a biography, though. She uses Plato's work to establish the importance of philosophy outside of the college classroom and thrusts it into the everyday questions of everyday people. How should I raise my children? Who would be the best leaders? The c...

Rachel Maddow, a talk-show host on MSNBC, recently released a video with several chronological clips of Trump implicitly (and sometimes explicitly) endorsing violence against protestors. Trump laments that protestors ‘have no consequences’ for their protesting. Does Trump mean to decry that the First Amendment of the United States goes too far in protecting protestors? Does he think that protesting is a right that should not be granted to dissenting opinions and voices? Rallies should be met with violence.

A Moment with Max. A "Neo-Dad Blog" founded on rambling thoughts, sudden wisdom, and an ample amount of goofiness. I’ve tried to post this on my photo blog several times but it won’t show on the blog or dash so I’m just going to have to post it here instead. Cause I didn’t spend 2 hours in a fucking field in the dark for no validation. Screw you tumblr. 2 hours well spent. Absolutely gorgeous photo! Throwback Thursday summer xmastime edition. It sounds like we are running our own insurance/dentist/realtor office. We finally decided on the fact that we should start our own detective agency. Feel free to send us your suggestions for names. Betsy worked really hard at taking messages and recording who had called. If nothing else it keeps her busy, I personally am hoping (for once) that telemarketers call. Reminder: Please do not leave important messages with Betsy. Shockingly enough her writing is a smidge hard to read. Links to this post. Ella ...

If absolute power corrupts absolutely, what level of power can a person/society have which successfully abates corrupt power while maintaining moral acceptance? More than anything, I hope that human decency prevails. The corruption of POWer lies in use, not in trust. Power shall be trusted not to one man or a group of men but to all men. With the pretension of someone who studies philosophy, I leave you a famous quote from a famous philosopher. 8203;- Friedrich Nietzche. One of the more intriguing essays...

Decisions, decisions…. I am learning that the decisions i make now, in this moment, no matter how big or small, will irrevocably shape my ”destiny” tomorrow. destiny is not some fixed road that is already laid out for me to traipse along, it is a road that i, myself, am building as i go about my daily life. What decisions am i making when i am choosing what food to put into my mouth? What decisions am i making when i am choosing what thoughts to put into my head? July 5th was my last binge and since lear...
