Random Birder

The perils of life and birding. Thursday, August 13, 2015. Arriving mid-afternoon on Lockwood as the first phase of storms had past, there was much optimism in connecting with something displaced as a result of the lively weather. Limited rewards were a single Lapwing. That had settled on the shoreline before taking off high before heading south. Three Common Sandpiper. Were down in number from previous days, and my first Green Sandpiper. On the northside, and a juvenile Greater Black Backed Gull. Again,...

randombirder: Walthamstow Reservoirs - Pied Flycather

http://www.therandombirder.blogspot.com/2015/08/walthamstow-reservoirs-pied-flycather.html

Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Walthamstow Reservoirs - Pied Flycather. When The Prof called, I decided yes, let's get out onto the patch because it had been a while. To be honest I wouldn't have headed over there on my own volition. So a good job I agreed to this because it was a truly pleasant day. And this was enhanced by my first ever London Pied Flycatcher. Supported by a decent movement of common Warblers that included a minimum of three Garden Warbler. And a possible Lesser Whitethroat seen by Prof).

http://www.therandombirder.blogspot.com/2015/08/walthamstow-reservoirs-black-tern.html

Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Walthamstow Reservoirs - Black Tern. It was my intention to head down to the ressies at some point this afternoon after visits to the hospital and doctor in the morning. This was hastened by the news of a Black Tern. Half a dozen Common Sandpiper. Remained, and a Kingfisher. Was seen on Lower Maynard. A single Common Sandpiper. Was present on East Warwick. Also present was an increase of 14 Shoveler. And a calling Goldcrest. From the scrub on the westside.

randombirder: August 2015

http://www.therandombirder.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, August 26, 2015. The rain of recent days has drawn in a deluge of migrants up and down the country with coastal areas faring well with some impressive numbers of passerines and passing seabirds. But for us city folk, there's stuff to find too and with a bit of luck, something like a Garganey. Not sure how I managed to miss the Spotted Flycatchers, but there was a single Gadwall. And around six Teal. There A flock of House Martin. Were feeding low over the hide complex. There were two Whinchat.

The Random Babble

Monday, October 25, 2010. New York State of Mind. New York State of Mind. Former Harlem postal worker Jimmy McMillan stole the debate for New York governor last week by reiterating that the "rent is too damn high." He didn't stop there. In response to being questioned about gay marriage, McMillan responded that "if you were in love with a shoe, i'd marry you.". Uncontrollable spending seems to be New York's state of mind. 2 de Junho de 2012. Using Subversion (SVN) revision control system. The aim of a revision control system is to track code (mainly code, but it can tack other type of files), today I’ll be talking about Subversion (abreviated SVN) because my university had a Subversion repository and that’s what I learned first though there are a lot of others out there you should check out ( comparison of revision control systems. In a future post I’ll be discussing Git). You’ve worked for a while on them, now what?

Today's Thoughts

Wednesday, May 16, 2012. My Devotions Need Help. If you're like me, then reading the Bible can be hard. Honestly? Most of the time I just don't feel like reading it. Unless I'm on some form of "spiritual high" where everything seems great and I feel extremely close to God, taking time for devotions can feel like more of a habit, chore, or obligation. This is not how it's supposed to feel when we hang out with our best friend who has done so much for us. The afternoon during a lunch break at work? You don...
