The Rational Saver

Saturday, April 23, 2011. What I learned shopping this week. I haven't posted this week because I was waiting until I went to every store that I normally shop at so I could tell about all my exploits. I was trying to watch the screen, but Jack was yelling for something and trying to get down. As soon as she bagged the stuff, Jeremy picked it up and walked off and I was trying to keep up with him while reading my receipt so I would know for sure. I got cheated out of $3. Lesson learned. That's all for now.

They are the ones who do the coupons for WholeFoods in the little WF magazines they have for free by the checkouts. Ive gotten some good ones from them! April 17, 2011 at 9:17 PM. I just discovered mambo sprouts the other day, but Whole Foods is a pain to get to, not worth the gas unless I save a whole lot. I love that place though. What do you buy there? A Red Heel State of Mind: May 2011

http://sassyshoediary.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

A Red Heel State of Mind. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Love Me Some Clothing Swaps. I hosted my first clothing swap last week and it went great! All but two of the girls who came were swap newbies so it was fun to introduce a swap to them. I think they all enjoyed it and left with some "new" finds. Nothing better than getting new clothes for free! Here's my tips for hosting a swap:. Invite a variety of girls - all shapes and sizes - and give them some advance notice so they can gather up items. Flats are my ne...

A Red Heel State of Mind. Thursday, June 28, 2012. Marking Items off the Bucket List. Lately I’ve been thinking about my bucket list. There’s been things I’ve wanted to do floating around in my mind but I’ve never put them on paper. So I decided to do that to make my list official and where better than to make it official here! Some things are so simple and some will be much harder to obtain. The list will change with time as my interests grow and change. Complete a half marathon. Go on a picnic. See Bil...

A Red Heel State of Mind. Friday, September 30, 2011. Umm I'm back. sort of? Wow, guys. It's been since June that I last posted. I won't go into the nitty. Gritty details of why. let's just say: I (willingly) work way more hours than I used to and I've let some things slip. Example: my blog, my work out schedule, cleaning. yawn. :). But here I am to say hello! Earlier this month, I traveled to Destin. To visit my dad and stepmom. Translation: "Bad Form" - what Gramps says if someone does something naughty.

A Red Heel State of Mind. Sunday, April 24, 2011. How I Survived Lent. I gave up sweets for lent (donuts, cookies, cake, pie, ice cream and candy) and it actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Sure I missed a homemade cookie every now and then but I found little ways to trick my brain I was eating something sweet. I thought I'd share my new favorite low-calorie (sweet) snacks! I love Granola Thins! 90 calories of deliciousness. they come in dark chocolate, too. Sunday, April 17, 2011. I'm actu...

Classroom snippets, mathematical musings, school activities, and personal grumblings. Daughter Emily is halfway through kindergarten, and it’s been a lot of fun seeing all the math she’s been bringing home. As a secondary teacher, I don’t get to see much of the elementary CCSS math material up close. I have a deeper interest in Talking Math with Your Kids. Is the United States In Decline? Or will it Cheat History?

Did the Tea Party Change Anything? May 24, 2014. How is our country on a different path? It’s hard to know where the Tea Party will go from here. A movement that began with a very justified anger at the direction of our country didn’t really change the direction of our country. Instead its anger was coopted by the very interests it claimed to be against; the Tea Party, at the end of the day, was used to protect the very interests that are undermining our country. A Conversation with a Rational Tea Partier.

Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Donald Trump and John Lennon: A Case of Cognitive Dissonance. By David F. Shever Co-Founder of The Rational Spectrum and Chair of the Board of Center for a Reasoning Society. It's not the first time I've heard it. I mean how could someone who admires John Lennon ever succumb to this peddling of hatred, extremism, and xenophobia unleashed by a man who while apparently is extremely materially rich is so impoverished in the mind? Trump is actively deranging minds of fellow citizen...
