These are only hints and guesses, Hints followed by guesses; And the rest is prayer, observance, discipline, Thought and action. The hint half guessed, the gift half understood, Is Incarnation. - "The Dry Salvages" T.S. Eliot. Saturday, November 22, 2008. A few days ago a passage from Parker Palmer's little book, "Let Your Life Speak: Listening for the Voice of Vocation," came to mind while on retreat with some friends on the North Fork. And the Camping Machine. Monday, November 28, 2005. I’m sitting alone in our family room on Saturday night. I’m actually writing this now, but you won’t read it until Monday. The stereo is set to the Smooth Jazz station, playing softly. Chris, Tommy and MBW are all upstairs, sound asleep. My Old Friend is dozing comfortably on the sofa next to me. Outside, the first snowfall of the season is underway. With that, the first fire of the season has been lit in the fireplace. Anyway, earlier today we took the...

Somewhat Daily Happenings of an Intern Architect. Way to go, Jamocha. You know, a drink can be both a drink and a dessert at the same time. Take the Arby's Jamocha Shake. Between bites it's a drink. After the meal, or on it's own, it's a dessert.". So, my younger sister is searching for her first summer job. Ha! Summer's Summer Job. Gotta love that name! I wish I could get a summer job now. I am continuing to study for my ARE (architects registration exam). This one is on Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing. Lots of fun! Why can't we all just get along! On a lighter note, t...

Somewhat Daily Happenings of an Intern Architect. Where did it go? It's been eleven days since I last posted, so I thought I should update. Let's see, what has happened? Thanksgiving has come and gone. This year has flown by. I think the move really knocked the whole time thing out of whack. We basically have a month and 2005 will be over. I will save my reflections on the year till that time. However, I will comment on Thanksgiving. It was yet another Burdette Thanksgiving. Posted by Heather @ 9:29 AM.

Somewhat Daily Happenings of an Intern Architect. So work is going incredilbly well. I have one client who is, almost embarassingly, happy with the designs I am producing. The thing is, I am not putting an extra amount of time or effort into this. At least it makes me look good in front of my bosses. What is with all of the tests on Thing 1 and Thing 2's blogs? Well, off to a site tour. Downtown renovation - I love it! Posted by Heather @ 5:21 PM. Holy Grail, Batman! Posted by Heather @ 5:55 PM. Then, wh...
