Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. July 24, 2015. But against this business as usual backdrop comes a mission that is even more impossible than before, featuring a creepy-looking bad guy that is always a step ahead, a femme fatale with ninja-like skills and stunts that will leave you breathless. 8220;Hunt is the manifestation of destiny”. Rogue Nation is self-aware enough to distinguish itself from James Bond, but confident enough to know with every instalment it edges closes to action film perfection....

Arriving at the airport and onto the cursed tram, which was smooth and pleasant, offering no idea why it cost over 375m over budget! 8221; “I don’t wanna! 8221;, sees the Northern lights in Northern England, hunts down a dastardly Mexican who tells everyone they’re rubbish and gets involved with a Pony Club. A little trip to…Margate. July 20, 2015. July 20, 2015. Posted in UK travel. Margate, 64 miles from London, feels a lifetime away from the capital. With its empty shop fronts, bad coffee, chunks of town that desperately need a hug and a strong sense of decline, there is little to tempt your standard superior, culture-obsessed, party-going London idiot. Disclaimer! 50p to whoever knows why the Stones and Desperate Dan are here. Where I live, new developments in the guise of “regeneration” have...Staff mem...

2015 – The Year in Films – July. August 4, 2015. August 4, 2015. Masterminds has a stellar cast in Kristen Wiig, Zak Galifianakis and Owen Wilson and is directed by Jared Hess of Napoleon Dynamite and Gentlemen Broncos fame so was always going to be quirky and fun. The premise of the film is your standard heist gone wrong with many silly mishaps along the way. However, the film has had its release pushed back until October 2015 so there’s not much point in writing about it! 41: The Purge –. But against t...

Ah, Britain, Britain, Britain. I moan about you all the time, but I love you really. A little trip to… Norwich. Basically, I could live here in an instant. London – it’s noisy, arrogant, brash, civilised, trendy, hipster, expensive, great value, infuriating, fantastic. I love it part 1. A little trip to… Liverpool. A little trip to… Birmingham. It’s my sort-of home city and much like Winston Smith in 1984, I’ve finally learnt to love it. A little trip to… Brighton. Go for the bay, stay for the day!

2015 – The Year in Films – April. April 18, 2015. May 3, 2015. 28: The Headless Woman. Has a hand print on the car appeared, or was that a continuity error? Why isn’t she stopping to find out what happened? Our principles are only as strong as our will to survive; The Headless Woman demonstrates this with a cinematic flair that is hard to forget. 29&30 – The forgotten duo. Interstellar and Dogtooth. BST Hyde Park – tits and hits. June 23, 2015. June 23, 2015. I saw a headline on Facebook flash up – Hyde Park summer gigs had tickets available on a donation basis. Immediately, I hurled money at the Prostate Cancer charity and chose to see Kylie over the Stroke and Blur. All great headliners, but with Grace Jones, Chic and Foxes on the lineup, it’s just not a decision I had to make. Edinburgh day 2 – Two full plays and two full comedy shows. August 11, 2015. August 17, 2015. A busy day at the Festival saw me sit through two plays and two comedy shows, a record for me! Every one of them was of a startlingly high quality, with the levels of creativity on display for Down and Out surprising at every turn, the intensity of Luke McQueen being unlike any comedy show I’ve seen and the novelty of Mawaan Rizwan suggesting he can switch from YouTube video fame to real-life adulation.
