Tales from a Tropical Isle. Monday, November 19, 2012. Lots of progress in just the first month:. New exterior doors on the entire house. We removed the roof gardens and installed new gutters. Roof garden in one of the former gutters. No more rusty, hazardous gutters on the front. One of the back gutters. We think this side of the roof was a major contributor to the water beside the house. The gutter empties into a drain box to keep the water off the surface. The drain tile runs out to the drive way.

And we have 1 million grounded outlets on the counters (as opposed to the 2 possible grounded outlets we had in the cupboard, under the counter.). The counters are poured concrete. Tales from a Tropical Isle. Sunday, February 3, 2013. In the past 2 weeks, we replaced 19 light switches. It all started when the hall light needed too much encouragement to.turn off. About 2/3 of the switches seemed like originals. This is the last original. Saturday, February 2, 2013. It has been dry recently, so I made more yard improvements. Here is the cargo from Friday. The monstera and impatient went in the side yard. The impatient is in the back, next to the gardenia tree (you can't see it).

Tales from a Tropical Isle. Thursday, December 20, 2012. For the first time, we have had consistent, measurable rainfall at our new house. We have received approximately 1 3/4 inches of rain in the past 7 days. The drainage system Paul designed seems to be doing its job.
