Inside the Halo: July 2004
http://insidethehalo.blogspot.com/2004_07_01_archive.html
Anaheim Angels Analysis by ESPN Correspondent Matt Allen. Tuesday, July 27, 2004. Some of the consistency the Angels lack is, of course due to the numerous injuries they've had over the course of '04. For example, last Friday against Seattle, Tim Salmon. Hit 8th in the order as the DH. Saturday, because of injuries, he was in the 3 hole. Sunday? Back to 7th. Last night? The Halos have used 3 C, 5 1B, 4 2B, 4 SS, 5 3B, and at least 4 people at every OF position. Oh, yeah- and 13 DHs. Does It Ever End?

Anaheim Angels Analysis by ESPN Correspondent Matt Allen. Monday, June 13, 2005. Have you seen the Gwyneth Paltrow movie where she's rushing to make the train and the moment splits and you spend most of the movie seeing how her life would've been different depending on whether or not she got on the train in time? Mending Wings: The Impaler. At the Bat Rack. More Than Middle Relief. Is there a good reason why only 5% of mixed league owners have rostered Brendan Donnelly? Posted by Matt @ 12:01 AM.

Anaheim Angels Analysis by ESPN Correspondent Matt Allen. Friday, May 13, 2005. The Shield of Protection. Completely Off-Topic Part 1. Mending Wings: Potentially Bad, Bad News. Completely Off-Topic Part 2. I'm not a communist and I just want to say that anywhere there is a market for what you're selling, then bully for you if you make a boatload of scratch. However, in a world where marketing and advertising is king, are we at least (the very least) approaching the line at which it's just too far?

Center Field: Shaggin' Flies #2
http://cf8.blogspot.com/2005/01/shaggin-flies-2.html
Wednesday, January 12, 2005. Bust out that brand new. Ballparks of the Major Leagues. Calendar and the ol' trusty CD of John Fogerty. Because it's time for a new year in the place where baseball is always discussed (except during pitching changes). It's time for 2005 in Center Field. That means it's time to shag some flies. Our "pilot" column last July. At CHI: 5.1 IP, 3 HR. At HOU: 6 IP, 3 HR. At STL: 5 IP, 1 HR. To the Mets, with possibly Carlos Delgado. Speaking of the Yankees. Gettin' a little tight&...

Center Field: Shaggin' Flies #1
http://cf8.blogspot.com/2004/07/shaggin-flies-1.html
Thursday, July 22, 2004. Nothin' like gettin' in a little practice with the defense. . .let's get started. I keep hearing people complaining about competitive balance in baseball, but those people should read the paper. Sixteen of MLB's 30 teams are 6 games or less out of 1st. Add 7 more than are 7 games or less out of the Wild Card. That leaves only 7 teams who are basically playing to fill out the schedule. Culprits? Just how bad are the D-Backs? How did that happen? Try 351. Now. With his 4.32 K/9?

Anaheim Angels Analysis by ESPN Correspondent Matt Allen. Friday, April 30, 2004. Taming the Tigers/Arena Baseball! Are ya kiddin' me? He still fanned 6. Everyone has those starts. Bartolo just found out that even the Tigers (who are much better than last year, by the way) can still smack the ball if you get it up in the zone. When he faces the D-Rays in a few days, the smiles will be back for his owners. Who looked great in Detroit? Headline: Garret Anderson on DL; Is that right? The Platoon That Isn't.

Inside the Halo: What Was That?!
http://insidethehalo.blogspot.com/2005/07/what-was-that.html
Anaheim Angels Analysis by ESPN Correspondent Matt Allen. Monday, July 11, 2005. But Yogi would tell ya it ain't over. Bartolo Colon's first half of 2004 made owners go out and buy milk and batteries (6-8, 6.38 ERA, 76 K). BC's first half of 2005 has been much, much better (11-5, 3.42 ERA, 89 K), even with Thursday's thrashing vs. Seattle (6 IP, 7 H, 7 ER). Could this be a sign of a terrible 2nd half for him?
