Budding sitcom writer. TV executive told me to write a blog. Here it is. Tall Tales: a Player Exits. I was heartbroken this week to hear of the sudden death of my tailor, James Pendlebury. Bawling my eyes out crying; triple hankie sobbing. We weren’t personal friends, never hanged out socially, I had to think really hard as to why his death affected me so much. Fitting for the last coat James made for me. Photo taken by James in his rooms on Cross Street. What was that about? I’m not sure , I said,...

Budding sitcom writer. TV executive told me to write a blog. Here it is. The upside of being extremely tall. Tall Tales Redux →. My regular hospital appointment is just down the road and of a morning. I have a cheeky lie in then bolt a brew and make the appointment time about fifteen minutes after I’ve woken. Who cares what a state I’m in? How tall are you? I’m six foot ten. But this is often an unacceptable answer to the freak-pointing contingent. The truth often elicites an is that all? You’re a ...

I was with mum and our kid in a nice deli in Chorlton picking some coffee and bread. A man of 60 bowled up and demanded, how tall are you? No excuse me or I hope you don’t mind if I ask… butter up, just straight in like the dog’s cock. What was that about? I’m not sure , I said, he must be a nutter. Rae on More Tall Tales.

Supporting Pregnancy Through Cancer and Beyond. About Mummy’s Star. Penny’s Story – Cancer and Pregnancy Awareness Week 2015 – Breast Cancer. June 20, 2015. February 23, 2016. At 40 years old and 11 weeks pregnant we had our baby scan, everything was perfect. We were relieved (having had a complicated first pregnancy and miscarriages), elated and excited. That was on a Monday in April 2013. On the Wednesday we were told I had breast cancer and our world came crashing down. We came home and had to tell my...

Supporting Pregnancy Through Cancer and Beyond. About Mummy’s Star. Awareness Week – How Do We Judge its impact. July 1, 2015. February 23, 2016. So two weeks have passed since our second ‘Cancer and Pregnancy’ awareness week and there has been a lot for us to take stock of. There are a few ways of looking at this, and this is part of the challenge as to where to plough our energies next. For a small charity like ours, resources are limited in terms of time therefore we need to maintain a focus and f...

The ReluctantBiker | The view from the back
The view from the back. Me and My Shadow. On May 22, 2012 by Kristen. Like Peter Pan did, I’ve lost my shadow. Though she is gone, the fur that clogs our vacuum isn’t. It has fused with the fibers of our rugs, gathered in the corners where floor and wall meet, clings to the dark clothing we’ve taken out with the change of the season. Doomed True Believer
Thursday, September 30, 2010. So now the time has come, to be rid of the evil little "burrs" that assault my skin. I have my 6" buffer and sanding pads ready. I have a big stack of metal. I have my gloves, goggles, and dust mask. I am ready to go. Now the trick of this seems to be to NOT make the edge of the metal into a Knife. This is accomplished by first cleaning the cut edge of the metal all the way around. Then sand the top of the edges. Finally i sand the bottom of the edges. Now that (almost) all ...

Wa | The Reluctant Blood Knight
The Reluctant Blood Knight. A bit about Wa and Wa. One step…. and a journey begins. April 13, 2007. With no else to whom I may confide and so many thoughts to reflect upon I’ve committed myself to lay down these words in this, my mother’s former journal. This account may be my last, for we fight the Undead Scourge daily, pushing them back from the gates of Silvermoon as they charge from our beloved Eversong Woods. I am Wa, a devoted, but slightly reluctant Blood Knight serving in the Sin’Dorein Army.
