Juxtapositions and Oxymorons: March 2006

Sunday, March 05, 2006. Happiness is Lots of Balloons! The kids and I worked a city council campaign last fall. A couple of days before the election, our candidate generously gave my kids what remained of her balloons; a bag of about 1,000. They are really nice too, the big 12" ones! James and Valerie were delighted. If you are a kid, you can NEVER have too many balloons around. We still have about 1,000 balloons left over from my husband's campaign, but these are a happy bright yellow.

Sunday, July 23, 2006. When our troop was checking out of Camp Emerson two weeks ago, I asked the commissioner if by chance I had a free Wednesday in the next few weeks, could I come up as a volunteer and do the Tahquitz Peak hike (8 miles) again with one of the groups. She was delighted and said, of course! And not only that, she said, if you came up for the whole week as a volunteer, James can come for another week of camp for free! God bless you all and keep you! Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Ice Cream Cones and Hot Fudge Sundaes. We had the orthodontist appointments this afternoon. Both kids are in a holding pattern for six months. Valerie will have to have a full set of braces at "just the right time." James is close to braces, probably this summer. Long ago now.must have been 1969. It is interesting how you can find a time machine in the strangest places. Posted by Christina @ 3:51 PM. It has been great having these two so close in age. Sometimes their respec...

Saturday, August 12, 2006. Valerie painted this watercolor a year ago when she was nine. I love this little green frog sculpture.the camera may be a little close to the subject, but as I said. Am not the artist here. This horse was drawn with colored pencils. This one was done at home for her own pleasure. This food watercolor was an art class assignment last Thanksgiving. The teacher had lots of different types of food set out on a table for the class to draw. Posted by Christina @ 10:40 PM. Sigh I don'...

Juxtapositions and Oxymorons: April 2006

Thursday, April 13, 2006. Being in Boy Scouts has really changed me. I have learned a lot about first aid, fire building, safety, and survival skills. When I quizz my boys about emergency situations, I invariably ask them if it is time to panic. We laugh and I always say "There is NO panicking in Boy Scouts.you never get to panic! Right on the stove! He never saw a thing. Now it was not a good thing to have a fire in the kitchen during dinner, but I must say that I am pretty proud of the fact that I deal...

The Blog That Binds - moved to www.dalejenkins.com. Monday, April 28, 2008. Just one pic - but a great one! Friday, April 25, 2008. For those of you who can't see the podcast. I know some of you can't see the podcast and you want to see what's happening at the building site so here's your report. This is some of the plumbing. This major plumbing work has to be done before the slab is poured. It is about done. I'd say about 80% from what I could tell. Another picture of the plumbing work. They say dreams ...

Monday, May 22, 2006. Scout Trip to the Salton Sea. Beautiful, beautiful Salton Sea. I was amazed at the beauty and peace of this place. Blue sky, blue water set in a golden, sunbaked desert plain. We had several pieces of bread devoured by a rodent before the boys could find the bread. Luckily we had another loaf along with us! This is the service project we worked on. We took buckets and picked up trash along the shore and in the desert near the shore. The laundry and floors will wait! GOD IS SO GOOD!
