The Robbins' Nest

Capturing the ordinary moments that make life extraordinary. Tuesday, November 27, 2012. You know how when someone is having a rough time and life is just not on there side people suggest a change of scenery? Well, that is what I have needed for quite some time. I have been frustrated with the blogging process. I have struggled to find my voice, create a space that felt like me, and know what I should even write about. I decided it was time to start over. So, from now on I will be here. I only have a few...

The Robbins' Nest: March 2012

http://therobbinsnest.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Capturing the ordinary moments that make life extraordinary. Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Now that the little man is on all people food I am constantly in search of food that he and I can both eat so that I am not making two meals every time we eat. I know, I'm selfish like that. He really, really likes oatmeal and I have been hearing a lot of the benefits of oats and decided this was probably an easy meal to share. Then the really fun step, wait for it to come to a boil. Yep, you read me right. Walk...As an...

Capturing the ordinary moments that make life extraordinary. Saturday, July 28, 2012. 7 Days of Noonday: Day 4. Saturdays. Oh, Saturdays. The day was you get to stay in your bumming around clothes as late as you want. The smell of freshly cut grass in the air. Lunches made of date night leftovers. Today was a busy cleaning day. We have a very special group of people coming over tomorrow and we want the house to be as close to tip-top condition as possible. Does any one recognize any of the pieces? I have...

The Robbins' Nest: September 2012

http://therobbinsnest.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Capturing the ordinary moments that make life extraordinary. Thursday, September 27, 2012. Jewelry is often seen as a solid investment. Gold and diamonds are generally considered valuable, conservative investments in cultures around the world. The more pure and perfect the metal or stone, the greater the value that it holds. Ironically, once it reaches its pure form at 100%, the metals are too soft to be usable. They must be infused with a stronger metal in order to sustain its given shape over time.

Sunday, March 05, 2006. Happiness is Lots of Balloons! The kids and I worked a city council campaign last fall. A couple of days before the election, our candidate generously gave my kids what remained of her balloons; a bag of about 1,000. They are really nice too, the big 12" ones! James and Valerie were delighted. If you are a kid, you can NEVER have too many balloons around. We still have about 1,000 balloons left over from my husband's campaign, but these are a happy bright yellow.

Sunday, July 23, 2006. When our troop was checking out of Camp Emerson two weeks ago, I asked the commissioner if by chance I had a free Wednesday in the next few weeks, could I come up as a volunteer and do the Tahquitz Peak hike (8 miles) again with one of the groups. She was delighted and said, of course! And not only that, she said, if you came up for the whole week as a volunteer, James can come for another week of camp for free! God bless you all and keep you! Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Ice Cream Cones and Hot Fudge Sundaes. We had the orthodontist appointments this afternoon. Both kids are in a holding pattern for six months. Valerie will have to have a full set of braces at "just the right time." James is close to braces, probably this summer. Long ago now.must have been 1969. It is interesting how you can find a time machine in the strangest places. Posted by Christina @ 3:51 PM. It has been great having these two so close in age. Sometimes their respec...

Saturday, August 12, 2006. Valerie painted this watercolor a year ago when she was nine. I love this little green frog sculpture.the camera may be a little close to the subject, but as I said. Am not the artist here. This horse was drawn with colored pencils. This one was done at home for her own pleasure. This food watercolor was an art class assignment last Thanksgiving. The teacher had lots of different types of food set out on a table for the class to draw. Posted by Christina @ 10:40 PM. Sigh I don'...

Juxtapositions and Oxymorons: April 2006

http://juxtapositionsandoxymorons.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 13, 2006. Being in Boy Scouts has really changed me. I have learned a lot about first aid, fire building, safety, and survival skills. When I quizz my boys about emergency situations, I invariably ask them if it is time to panic. We laugh and I always say "There is NO panicking in Boy Scouts.you never get to panic! Right on the stove! He never saw a thing. Now it was not a good thing to have a fire in the kitchen during dinner, but I must say that I am pretty proud of the fact that I deal...

The Blog That Binds - moved to www.dalejenkins.com. Monday, April 28, 2008. Just one pic - but a great one! Friday, April 25, 2008. For those of you who can't see the podcast. I know some of you can't see the podcast and you want to see what's happening at the building site so here's your report. This is some of the plumbing. This major plumbing work has to be done before the slab is poured. It is about done. I'd say about 80% from what I could tell. Another picture of the plumbing work. They say dreams ...

Monday, May 22, 2006. Scout Trip to the Salton Sea. Beautiful, beautiful Salton Sea. I was amazed at the beauty and peace of this place. Blue sky, blue water set in a golden, sunbaked desert plain. We had several pieces of bread devoured by a rodent before the boys could find the bread. Luckily we had another loaf along with us! This is the service project we worked on. We took buckets and picked up trash along the shore and in the desert near the shore. The laundry and floors will wait! GOD IS SO GOOD!

Saturday, May 23, 2015. I'm sitting here watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with Callie for the fourth time this morning.and it's not even 8 am yet! As soon as one episode is over she starts pleading, "Mickey Mouse! Over and over until I put a new episode on. She's also been giving me a check-up with her Doc McStuffins (aka "Muffins") medicine bag. She walks around with the stethoscope in her ears asking, "your heart? She's such a joy and I'm so grateful to have that sweet girl. Saturday, May 23, 2015.

Some of the news that is fit to be seen. Monthly images are up.remember, there are tabs of pages in the photo gallery sections. Not everything is on the front page. I know most just look at the picture of the week (POTW) and occasionally the pathetically updated blog. Are updated from time to time including collages (now that there is a Mac app for it). I may add some ebooks. But they are HUGE. And not any of that "hope and change" crap being shoved down the throats of the mindless.

Friday, April 20, 2012. Let me tell you about our yard. One month ago, our yard was one big green weed. So we decided to put in sod. Then we decided an irrigation system was necessary. So three weeks ago we had them start that project. Anyway, they ripped up our yard for two days. Then they disappeared for a week. Then they began the digging of the trenches for the pipes for two days. Then they disappeared for another week. Do you see the pattern? And he said, no we'll be out there to hook up the irrigat...

Welcome to the Robbins Nest

Welcome to the Robbins Nest. Thursday, August 6, 2009. Sadly, the summer ended with my camera dying :( so, the pics are borrowed from neighbors or taken from our old camera (which makes me miss my newer one even more). I will post pics from Hayden's school when he starts, which won't be until the 18th, but here are a few from Hannah's first day. Ready for 1st grade. Hannah, daddy and Hayden.
