About The Sacred Disease. Filming on the east coast. Posted on May 19, 2011. As we prepared to drive over 10,000 miles during the month of March and April, we found that it was much more pleasant to shoot film on the eastern side of the country. The tedious process of going through person after person, filing paperwork and signing release forms in California turned into a process that only involved an email and a phone call at best. We eagerly awaited Jim Abrahams’ arrival, anxious to meet the man behind Airplane! And great work in epilepsy. When he arrived, we all lit up like a light bulb! I watched Jim in admiration, with hope and appreciation for everyone like him – fighting for our epilepsy needs, to no end. Thank you for everyone that attended, you are making this film possible!
