Thursday, May 5, 2011. From my dad's side of the family they came from Cuba in 1980 when my dad was 10 years old. They lived in Florida for 6 months and then were given a choice of moving to Kansas, California, Michigan, or staying in Florida. My grandparents chose California because a family friend that they had found when they came to the United States recommended. The jobs here. Others may come for the weather or the Colleges here.
