Peter's Ashtray: July 2006
http://petersashtray.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 30, 2006. Songs That Stick In Your Head. Inspired as usual by the Smoking Christian, I have compiled a short list of songs that stick in your head. A strange but frequent phenomenon, songs that stick in your head affect everyone. Why does this occur? I suppose it has something to do with the song itself. Repetitive and stupidly simple seems to be two common characteristics. Also they are played/sung ad nauseam by DJs and church choirs. You hear them a lot. Yellow Submarine by The Beatles.

http://petersashtray.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 30, 2006. Now I sit in my garage. And I watch the cars. I fear Ill do some damage. But I would not be convicted. By a jury of my peers. Still crazy after all these years. Oh, still crazy. Still crazy after all these years. Posted by Yakimaniac at 12:29 PM. Tuesday, November 28, 2006. In the whole blog world is possessed. Day after day he pours forth the evidence of his demonic madness for all the world to read. Sometimes he channels Bertrand Russell, or maybe John Wimber. A few moments...

Peter's Ashtray: September 2006
http://petersashtray.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 24, 2006. Last Friday Mrs. Yak and I were coming out of our favorite restaurant after a wonderful meal when we passed by a wine bar. Through the open door we saw our church’s music minister inside entertaining friends. (If I further explain that we attend a Baptist church of the Conservative Baptist denomination, I’m sure you will immediately appreciate the significance of this happenstance.). Posted by Yakimaniac at 12:20 AM. Tuesday, September 19, 2006. It's Today's Style of Homestyle.

Tuesday, October 20, 2009. Oil on panel, 10.5 x 8.5 in. Check out this little bit of goodness! Oil, colored oils, painted with a brush, onto a board, 11 inches tall! Some look at mountains to see the greatness of God, for some, medicine holds fascination and proof of the existence of God. For me, things like this. Perfect likeness with incredible detail. of two guys playing chess. Incredible! The skill that God has put into man! What must God be like? How do you say "checkmate" in French? They say an art...

The Wooden House: Grandma Hands
http://thewoodenhouse.blogspot.com/2011/10/grandma-hands.html
Saturday, October 22, 2011. I have Grandma hands. Used to be that my hands were beautiful. Not puffy or wrinkled. When I was young my nails were long and I would paint them chocolate brown. That was in the 70s when chocolate brown fingernails were radical and blue nail polish was never heard of. I was pretty once, too. On a good day. (sigh). Do I miss the brown nail polish? Sippy cups. And hopefully keep giving myself away. Anne of The House. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Sunday, October 18, 2009. Gustave Courbet, A Burial at Ornans. Oil on Canvas, 124 x 263 in. Musee d'Orsay, Paris. Another painting of a lifetime! Double-click on A Burial at Ornans. In real life it measures 10 feet, 4 in tall and 21 feet wide! This would mean the figures are lifesized! I'll stop here and wait for you to look. The dawn of realism in 19th century is before your eyes! I would note that although some of Courbet's paintings are edifying, others, I have found, are less so.). Each face tells a ...
