Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Do the arithmetic, that’s 26,400 sq. ft of drywall installed in 114 man hours. A Shore Thing: Happpy Hour on the Back Porch

http://theshorethinghome.blogspot.com/2010/04/happpy-hour-on-back-porch.html

Friday, April 16, 2010. Happpy Hour on the Back Porch. I spent last weekend at a Shore Thing so I could do yard work and catch up with construction. Betsy hung out soaking up the view and generally charging up her batteries for her next surgery. Some of the latest pictures. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Happpy Hour on the Back Porch. A Shore Thing: The beat goes on

http://theshorethinghome.blogspot.com/2010/02/beat-goes-on.html

Monday, February 22, 2010. The beat goes on. For a number of reasons I didn't get down to check on things for almost a month and in that time a lot went on. As you an see from these pictures. The framing is pretty well. Done, the porches are under way and the windows are in. The guys couldn't work for about a week because of the snow but once they returned they started on exterior trim work since the weather was going to cooperate. Our plumber has started his rough in. A Shore Thing: Framing Update

http://theshorethinghome.blogspot.com/2010/01/framing-update.html

Sunday, January 17, 2010. Betsy and I went to check up on things yesterday. THIS. Is what we saw and as you can see things are progressing nicely with the framing. The mason is building piers to support the front and back porches and we are getting ready to bid those jobs out. The first of the mechanical trades, our plumber will be starting some of his work shortly. If anyone is interested in what's been used to frame the house so far, there's a list HERE. The rest of the stuff is pretty self explanatory.

A Shore Thing: March 2010

http://theshorethinghome.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 12, 2010. Moving on to mechanical. Could do it for a net of $10K. Considers "dual fuel to be state of the art in the heating and cooling world and a notch or two less efficient than that of current best available geothermal systems.". As you can see from the pictures. The windows and doors are all in, the roof felt is down and the shingles are staged for roofing. My next update will be at the end of the month. Stay tuned. How's Betsy?: To Ginger

http://howsbetsy.blogspot.com/2011/09/to-ginger.html

Monday, September 19, 2011. I was reminded recently that I haven’t posted here in a while and the particular correspondent wanted to know how things were going. Through my tears I see her sitting on Betsy's lap and have to keep telling myself that no one understands God's will; we just have to accept it. Going over to "A Shore Thing" is hard and I'm still conflicted over what I will do with it, but I continue to finish the project. Peace to you, buddy. I admire your strength of spirit. How's Betsy?: March 2010

http://howsbetsy.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, March 13, 2010. In case you were wondering. What does a person do after all that? Tom and I met with the surgeon this week, and I am scheduled for another HIPEC procedure on 4/13. (Yes it's the same surgery that was done in August, but with a focus on the localized area near the bowel and deep in the pelvis). I did return to work full time on Wednesday 3/10, and will work until 4/9. It will be a great distraction and I will feel productive and useful. Till next time :-) Bets.

How's Betsy?: December 2009

http://howsbetsy.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 12, 2009. In the Home Stretch. I am getting my final treatment, the last cycle of four. I am doing well, with minimal side effects. I feel good and have no pain. I was able to get cards written and finished a novel just in the first 2 days here. There isn't much else to keep one busy when you are tethered by IV tubing and a pump. My best wishes to all for a very Merry Christmas and a blessed and healthy new year! Till next time.:-) Bets. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). In the Home Stretch.

How's Betsy?: February 2010

http://howsbetsy.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 28, 2010. The Last of Inpatient Chemo. On Friday I saw the Oncologist and all is well. Monday AM I will be admitted to Mercy for my last dose of inpatient chemo. He has cleared me to return to work on Wednesday MARCH 10th. Yahoo! It will feel good to get back into a regular routine. Of course there will be regular follow-up, probably monthly "maintenance chemo", and periodic scans. But for now things will return to a new normal. I will keep you updated as things come along.

How's Betsy?: April 2010

http://howsbetsy.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 27, 2010. I came home last Wednesday, and have been adjusting to the "new normal" routines of daily life. It has been trying, to say the least. But with the help and loving support of family and friends, I am getting through this! I am feeling stronger everyday and with time will be ready to help Tom build a house! In the mean time, I will be at home and welcome calls and visits. As always, thank you for your prayers and thoughtful good wishes. Til next. :-) Bets. Sunday, April 18, 2010.

How's Betsy?: September 2010

http://howsbetsy.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 19, 2010. MRI showed nothing significant. no obstruction or tumor growth. Kidney function is improving and I may be going home tomorrow. The medical opinion is these are all side effects of the various chemos I have had over the past year. I am not the writer in the family. I will leave any further blogging to Tom. Check the link to 'A Shore Thing' for updates on the house. Friday, September 17, 2010. Not a Fun Month. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Not a Fun Month.

How's Betsy?: November 2009

http://howsbetsy.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 9, 2009. Well this day, I asked (in frustration) for a response to whether or not I was heading in the right direction as far as my treatment was going. I asked for "anyone, someone to send me a sign if I was moving in the right direction." "Send me monarch butterflies! On Saturday, Tom and I drove to Cambridge to hold a 'ground breaking'. My answer can't be any clearer! Monday, November 2, 2009. Kevin and Andrew are finishing up with midterm exams. Andrew is going to Virginia this w...

How's Betsy?: At the crossroad

http://howsbetsy.blogspot.com/2010/12/at-crossroad.html

Friday, December 31, 2010. It's been quite a year. As I write this I'm smack in the middle of one of the worst colds I've had in years. Really. None of us came down with so much as the sniffles during Betsy's struggle and now my body is making up for the lost time. On the up side, I'm sleeping better than I have in a long time. I'm sure Betsy will help me figure that out. And Happy New Year to you and your sons.CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN! December 31, 2010 at 3:00 PM. Happy New Year to all of you! Im hoping fo...

How's Betsy?: July 2010

http://howsbetsy.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 19, 2010. I received my latest chemo last Tuesday and have just begun to feel like myself again. That was the second dose three weeks apart, and my hair is mostly gone. I was just beginning to feel like it had a little style, too! I will be getting 3 more doses of the adriamycin, each 3 weeks apart. My next one is scheduled for 8/3. I will also get Melphalan which will be harsher on my immune system. I will need to avoid big crowds and sick people.(Again! Til next time. :-) Bets.
