The Shy Singer/Songwriter: jousting at disbelief
http://theshysinger-songwriter.blogspot.com/2014/10/jousting-at-disbelief.html
Disbelief made me shy. So shy I actually stammered a reply to harmless natural questions like, 'hey, how was your weekend.' Stymied by the need to say something while my disbelief shouted 'you're BORING', my eyes looked sideways to the ceiling while my lips said, "f-f-f-f-f-ine" with a tone of voice that probably communicated my acute discomfort and distaste with my own seized up awkwardness and inward pain. This journey isn't easy of course. Awareness comes and goes. Past programming rears its u...I lea...

The Shy Singer/Songwriter: Live today
http://theshysinger-songwriter.blogspot.com/2012/11/live-today.html
Remove all blame from your vocabulary. Catch yourself when you find yourself using your past history as a reason for your failure to act today, and instead say, "I am free now to detach myself from what used to be." -Dr Wayne W Dyer. The Shy Singer/Songwriter: Creating inspiration
http://theshysinger-songwriter.blogspot.com/2014/06/creating-inspiration.html
Oh, look, an empty page. It looks very big. What will I write? I really don't know. My mind is blank. It often feels that way when I decide I should be creative or say something meaningful. Then the pressure is on and the ideas just dry up. At that point I might even contemplate sorting out the sock drawer. I come up with a line of lyric and then google rhyming words and toss them around to see what might connect. Sometimes I just find a really cool beat and use that as the basis for an entire piece.

The Shy Singer/Songwriter: Being comfortable with being shy
http://theshysinger-songwriter.blogspot.com/2013/10/being-comfortable-with-being-shy.html
Being comfortable with being shy. There's umpteen books and articles on how shy people can be less shy. I cannot comment on them individually. However, it occured to me yesterday that perhaps we could discuss a different perspective. What actually is wrong with being shy? Shy people have an aversion to being put on the spot. They prefer a gentle appoach, time to reflect, and be energized for action. which is fine as long as they don't procrastinate for too long. Im an introvert by nature and I KNOW the p...

The Shy Singer/Songwriter: Is being "commercial" a cop-out?
http://theshysinger-songwriter.blogspot.com/2012/10/is-being-commercial-cop-out.html
Is being "commercial" a cop-out? I always felt that everyone else knew what to say, what to do, how to be. I looked to them for clues, because they were the ones who obviously had the how-to manual of life. I tried to anticipate their thoughts, and morph myself to be what I envisioned they wished me to be. Then they would like me. Approve of me. Want me around. When I was a child, I wasn't able to express myself fully. No one gave me the tools. I didn't feel safe being 'myself'. except when I...So it's n...
