Chez Danisse: In the Middle of It All
http://chezdanisse.blogspot.com/2015/04/in-middle-of-it-all.html
Monday, April 27, 2015. In the Middle of It All. Dancing Above the Garden. Tuesday, April 21, 2015. The weather in San Francisco seems to have retreated back to winter. I'm wearing a puffy jacket and sitting in an ugly little cafe with great coffee and a barista with eclectic taste in music. When I sat down it was Redbone's Come and Get Your Love. And now Blondie is purring ooo,. His music makes it feel good in here. I don't care. A huge loud truck is idling just outside the door. Earlier today, about a ...

Thursday, April 3, 2014. Wrapping up the school year. I have to remember that change is hard for me. Every spring and fall especially. I suppose in the spring I'm trying to wrap up school. I'm tired, stressed out and can't wait to sleep in! There's never a lack of activities I'm involved with, but surely they'll be less going on in just a few short weeks. Meanwhile, I'd like to show you what the kids have been making! Happy spring to you! Rachael The Slow-Cooked Sentence. April 5, 2014 at 10:43 PM. Sunny...

Monday, October 20, 2014. Summer came and went. Now fall seems to be racing by. We started the school year and it's more packed full of co-ops and teaching commitments than last year. It all seemed really great on paper, but it's been a bit overwhelming to me. The kids seem to by liking everything though. Who had the most fun on our trip? November 1, 2014 at 10:52 AM. From all your telling and now this post I am so curious about Deep Springs! So fun to see more pictures! November 5, 2014 at 8:25 AM.

Raskin's Rhetoric: The Number Game
http://raskinsrhetoric.blogspot.com/2011/10/four-deep-at-bar.html
Tuesday, October 11, 2011. I am darting between the beer taps, my well and the register cash-n-carrying for the umpteenth time the same guy ordering a beer and shot. I have two thoughts going through my head. One, is this the first time these people have ever stepped foot in a bar and two, why didn’t I go to law school? I casually look at my watch and let out a quiet sigh. It’s only 10:30? And when did people’s club clothing become a cross between urban camouflage and a circus clown? One of the piano pla...

earthy crunchy: play
http://earthy-crunchy.blogspot.com/2014/02/play.html
Friday, February 28, 2014. Or something like that) And they did. My blood pressure lowered a bit and I realized how beautiful it is to have a mess in the family room. Honestly, I miss the days when my kids just played with toys. I feel nostalgic about those days when I had an ever present little one on my hip and the house was a disaster zone most of the time. My kids, at the moment, are playing flashlight hide-n-seek with dad. My heart is really happy. Rachael The Slow-Cooked Sentence.

Yep, that’s right, from start to publication took five years. I suppose that is one of the biggest reasons I was so thrilled to see it in print. Finally! It’s a now-6,000 word finished, published story that over the past 5 years went through so many rewrites I lost count (50? Or download the Kindle version. I do find the fac...

Learning by heart Mary Oliver : Slow-Cooked Sentences
http://wordpress.theslowcookedsentence.com/learning-by-heart-mary-oliver
Learning by heart Mary Oliver. My memorization is slow. The poem’s long and I’m preoccupied, so my mind struggles with phrases as foreign as another language. But it’s this poem — raw as a cut, aching in its directness — that I need, want, crave to internalize, to make my own. When life swamps me, I turn to poetry. I’m not alone. This is the second poem I will’ve memorized. The first was “Little Orphant Annie” by James Whitcomb Riley,. That she has to be vulnerable to take in poetry. Where your face burn...
