The Slow Road Home

The Slow Road Home. A Vacation, On Vacation. The bus ride to Brela was awesome. Rani and I sat talking and getting to know each other better as the bus wound its way along the beautiful coastline. The ride took somewhere between an hour and a half to two hours as expected, but to be honest, you could have told me it had taken five minutes or five hours and I wouldn’t have known the difference. How could I? Eventually the night got the best of us and we fell asleep, only to awake in the morning and come t...

The Slow Road Home. The Adventures of Rafting. Is this for real? January 24, 2012 at 4:24 PM. Ha ha, this is a great and crazy story. I particularly like your allusion to potential reoccurring death! Your driver reminds me in part, of a drunken hostel owner that helped me find a place to sleep one night in Prague.I slept with a knife under my pillow that night, but that another story. Looking forward to reading more! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Letter To Dad. And Then… I Met a Girl. Dear Gordon...

The Slow Road Home. Let’s Try This Again. Fortunately for us, Napoli won, and I was treated to the entire stadium singing, dancing, and celebrating the win. After the game we made our way back tothe metro and then onto the ferry to come back to Ischia. For the evening, it was the usual Sunday night at Bar Campo for a pizza and an early night. Jen's Blog: June 2013

http://jennverissimo.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Memorial Day Weekend I did my first Half Marathon! I was very excited to actually do it and finish the race. Before this I had only done 5k's and 10k's. It was in Ojai and was called the Mountains to Beach 1/2 marathon. Luckily my friend Somer and her friends Katie and Vanessa had already planned on doing it so I sort of tagged along and joined them on this crazy event. Headed down the final stretch! They even called our names as we crossed the finish line :). The pictures are p...

Jen's Blog: July 2012

http://jennverissimo.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Last week I had an interview at Los Angeles Mission College for a part-time adjunct position teaching English. I found out that I got the job and am very excited - this was something I added to my 30 before 30 list more as a wish than as something I really thought would be accomplished. I am very, very thrilled to be crossing it off the list! Bolt bus, once again. Justin Bieber papers given out on our way to the bus. First up, Sam Adams Brewery. The best pastries ever.

Friday, March 22, 2013. Anyway - Lent is upon us - only a little over a week left but I think I will definitely keep this diet up as much as I can - we cut out grains, pasta, gluten, processed sugars, etc. I don't believe that it can be a bad thing to cut these things out. Monday, September 3, 2012. Well, I know it's been awhile and I know that I need to post about Australia, but I will have to get to that later. First I wanted to post something about my jobs I have for the Fall 2012 semester :). I was lucky enough to be hired for one class at LA Mission. However, a few weeks later they asked if I had room in my schedule to take another class. I, of course, accepted. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Monday, May 28, 2012. Vegas, Baby (Again). I think that this is going to be the longest post ever - but it's all pictures :). Lindy, her friend Linda and I decided to head to Vegas to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend and our graduations. We got in on Friday night, super late, and didn't head out to the clubs until midnight. It took us 8 hours to drive from L.A. to Vegas. Lindy getting her groove on. At a table - Linda, Lindy and me. Then Lindy got the urge to dance up with the guy in a fur coat and hat.

So I applied to Pepperdine University for a doctoral program. And I got in. Yikes! I am excited to say that I will start my program this summer and will be thrust into a new education environment :) I am definitely nervous but think that ultimately I will be very happy to have accomplished this goal. Monday, March 10, 2014. This blog post is a little belated but I'm writing it anyway :). I obviously didn't keep my blog up over the summer or during the last semester; however, the big news was that I was pregnant! Here are some pictures of everything I didn't keep up with:. First sonogram - 9 weeks, 5 days. At Jared and Abbey's wedding in Santa Barbara for the weekend. At class in Pepperdine for the weekend in December. Monday, March 5, 2012. Santa Barbara County Wine Tasting. Last weekend I went hiking and this weekend I decided to do something fun again. I talked Lindy into wine tasting with me in Santa Barbara. She was excited because she had never been before and I hadn't been in a few years, so we headed to S.B. Saturday morning. First stop: Foley winery. The wine we were sampling here was called: Two Sisters haha. At Melville which was really close to Foley. Babcock Winery which shares a driveway with Melville.

http://jennverissimo.blogspot.com/2014/03/babys-room.html

Monday, March 10, 2014. I had about two weeks off after my Winter class ended before Olivia was born and I spent that time taking care of Kevin (he had shoulder surgery), watching the Winter Olympics, and setting up the baby's room. Our friends Bert and Sung had given us this monkey stuffed animal at the baby shower and we used it to practice out our new baby stuff. Baby Monitor with baby monkey. Car seat with monkey. Carrie and Justin gave us the bedding for Olivia's bed - super cute - thanks guys!

The Slow Road To Healthy. Baby Steps to a Better You. The Green Aisle’s Healthy Smoothies and Slushies- A Book Review. One of my new favorite go to snacks since the baby was born is a smoothie. Dump everything into the blender, hit go, and a minute later I’m pouring my snack into a glass. All of that done while holding my “put me done and I’ll scream” baby. So when the opportunity to review a whole book full of new smoothie recipes presented itself I had to go for it. Two Ingredient Vegan Ice Cream.
