A Smiddy is the place of work of a blacksmith. A blacksmith forges and shapes iron with an anvil and hammer. Repairing implements, shoeing horses and fashioning new tools, the blacksmith and his Smiddy were once a main focal point of the local community. One of my Grandads was a blacksmith, the other was a shoe maker and aircraft engineer. I am an engineer educated in software, electronics and mechatronics.
