For those who haven't found us yet, the Smithy is a family run traditional tearoom, a little gem not to be missed. We are lucky enough to be situated in a lovely garden setting with a charming riverside location. We aim to provide all you would look for in a tearoom and more. Our gift shop also has a good selection of gift ideas many from local crafts people. Always a warm welcome from Marion and the girls. What's on your mind? History of The Smithy. The Smithy, as the name implies, is a tastefully converted former Smithy near Beaumaris with a datestone of 1811. Records show a Smithy in Llanfaes from the early 16th Century so it is assumed 1811 is a 'modernisation' date. It was converted to a high quality holiday home in around 1985, just before it was acquired by the current owners who have continued to improve and update the Grade 2 listed cottage to its beautifully appointed standard. The world famous Glenfiddich Distillery is located there as well as the Dufftown to Keith Railway which is run by enthusiasts. Excellent walking for all levels of fitness is on the doorstep. This could be from a gentle stroll to a climb up Ben Rinnes for the more adventurous and experienced.
