Musings From the Software Underground: January 2004

http://www.thesoftwareunderground.com/2004_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 26, 2004. Apple's done it again. I finally had some time to play with GarageBand. And I must say, it's an amazing piece of work. In no time I was able to put together a catchy pop song with piano, acoustic guitar and drums that wasn't half bad. For a long time music hound such as myself, who knows FAR too much about music, from a listener's perspective, without ever having taken the time to learn to play an instrument, it's a lot of fun. Post to del.icio.us. SQLGrinder version 2 status.

Musings From the Software Underground: The App Store Product Release Cycle: An Exercise in Frustration

http://www.thesoftwareunderground.com/2009/01/app-store-product-release-cycle.html

Friday, January 30, 2009. The App Store Product Release Cycle: An Exercise in Frustration. I'm not sure how others have found the App Store approval to be, but I found it anything but smooth. In trying to get MacGourmet touch. Approved for the App Store, it was rejected three times:. The third rejection, after another 3 days, was the result of the wrong build hastily getting placed on the server. A 30 second fix. Turn around time on that one? As a developer who is used to complete control over my release...

Wednesday, August 25, 2004. Sync Your MacGourmet Recipes to your iPod. Stan Soria has released a beta of a great new utility that allows you to sync recipes from your MacGourmet application to your iPod:. MacGourmet To iPod is an application that will import recipes from MacGourmet to your iPod. Your iPod must be running a minimum of iPod 2.0 software which includes the Note Reader feature (3G and 4G iPods).". You can download MacGourmet to iPod for OS X 10.3 here. Or for OS X version 10.2 here. MacGourm...

Musings From the Software Underground: October 2004

Wednesday, October 27, 2004. I think tonight, Bill Buckner sleeps a little more soundly. Post to del.icio.us. Posted by Michael on Wednesday, October 27, 2004. Sunday, October 24, 2004. On Software Design: Consistently Inconsistent. The latest Human Interface Guidelines has no specifics on what's right and what's wrong. Personally, I don't like the "run to the edges" look, and don't use it in MacGourmet, or SQLGrinder 2. Others clearly feel the same way, as seen in Panic's Transmit. Who knows. It's e...

Mike On... Stuff: July 2006

http://www.michaeldupuis.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

Mike On. Stuff. Saturday, July 29, 2006. The Automobile as Art. I've had a few projects I've been working on, one of which I've recently completed. I've always appreciated the style of classic cars: the curves, the chrome, the exaggerated edges and shapes. so I decided to do a photography study of some of these design elements, a study of the design of classic automobiles as art, rather than just transportation. Included in this document ( download PDF. Posted by Michael on Saturday, July 29, 2006.

Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Is ACI a subset of HCI? Received this conference announcement and could not resist sharing with the group (sorry it has been so long since my last note). It does reflect how ubiquitous intelligent devices are and how they will affect interaction with other species. I would be interested in your comments and whether there is a place for an app store for pet owners. If you have heard of the app Yo, why not Woof or Meow! Workshop, NordiCHI’14, 27th October 2014, Helsinki. The ACI&#82...

Wednesday, August 12, 2009. This novice-friendly freeware anti-virus tool expects a certain level of sophistication from its users. Checking your PC status, scanning for viruses, and switching on or off real-time protection are all a matter of clicking a single button. Scan speed and memory requirements are average for applications in this genre. Basic full-scan scheduling is easy to set. The virus database appears comprehensive, and the program automatically downloads updates. Thursday, July 23, 2009.
