life of chocolate: Last Days - The PCT
http://chayadecacao.blogspot.com/2010/06/last-days-pct.html
Last Days - The PCT. Every time i travel west, i try to hit another section of the PCT. The stretch near sisters was lovely. The snow pack was impressive! The trail disappeared under feet and feet of snow for many stretches. This guy was dangling from a tree mid trail. A really cool fungus! Left: with as much snow as there was, it was in the 60's making for a comfortable stroll. Yet another incredible snowy peak. Further down the highway, this waterfall was gushing with clear spring melt. No one but me.

Reminiscing.3 days till the 101! We are just three days out from the 101! I thought perhaps i'd recount past years' experience via picture. I think that not only have my mountain bike skills improved - but also my photographic skills. While i'm a bit embarrased to post these, it's worth the story. Dang. enjoy the show. I didn't know anyone in the race this year. But it was fun to watch and help! Richie (left) and Peter (right); I didn't know either of these guys at the time! A very blurry Sparky! I didn'...

life of chocolate: unsettled settled
http://chayadecacao.blogspot.com/2010/08/unsettled-settled.html
Summer has flown by. filled with travel and exploration. but dominated by work. i feel drained and detached and secluded from the false warmth of the bubbles in which i once resided. I've been working for years to feel settled, to grow up, to follow the path that the world around me suggests is best. only to realize that i crave just the opposite. only to realize that these physical walls around me, and the comfort of my home are falsely secure. life of chocolate: Snow Packs and the desert
http://chayadecacao.blogspot.com/2010/06/snow-packs-and-desert.html
Snow Packs and the desert. The cool thing about impromptu road trips is you can go (and stop) wherever you want, whenever you want. Crater Lake National Park is an amazing spot not to be missed if you're in the area. The temperature dropped considerably coming from the cool, cloudy coast to the high elevation park. It's only early spring here and the snow packs are still monumental to the east coast eye. And then increase some more. And a little bit more. Yea, just a bit of snow here. Trying out the If T...

The breath's of spring air that i've take lately have been careful and controlled. i'm almost there-. One exam short of a semester filled with my last two major courses needed to fulfill degree requirements (regression and ANOVA). One meeting short of (hopefully succesfully) defending my dissertation proposal allowing me to dive into data processing (road trip north! And field work this summer. One breath short of allowing myself to be happier than i've been in a long time. The overhaul began at home.

Butterfly garden at night.Gaillardia. Good times with a good friend! The bastard barb. yes, that's a fish in his mouth. he ate my siamese algae eater. (note the lives one ironically behind him in this picture). Near full moon. lovely. Life has been a glass full of orange juice, ripe fresh strawberries and dark chocolate. Throw in some chalk, gritty crags and azalea and mountain laurel decorated trails and a bunch of travel.really, it can't get much better. A successful dissertation proposal defense.

I've been suffering from writers block the past few months. I begin to write, rethink, reorganize and can't quite seem to get thoughts organized in a way that's worthy of hitting "publish". I was going to write about the turkey apocalypse and black friday, but really why bother? I'm not one for turkey and hate shopping. It would be an all out bitch session really. I've been slacking in the blogging department. No pictures, limited posts. but all for good reason. It's been a hectic few weeks. School is over. 2 classes full time work really kicked my @ss this semester. 2 finals was icing on the really thick, heavy and somewhat lopsided cake. but it was all good. I've learned my bird shit inside and out! Last week was - THE WEDDING! It was the greatest time - although being maid of honor does bring with it a bit of blood, sweat and tears! And finally - i'm still no c...
