Russell Callow: February 2012
http://russellcallow.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Self-promotion, research and opinion. Monday, 20 February 2012. A collective of MA Sound Arts graduates have a show on this week in Clerkenwell at the Arbeit Gallery. I went along on Saturday. Obviously, a private view with a room full of chatter was not the most appropriate sonic setting, but the overall work and show concept was very good. Of course, the paradox that quiet works seem to demand more attention was at play there and time spent with the works was rewarding and stimulating.

Russell Callow: PROJECTS
http://russellcallow.blogspot.com/p/projects.html
Self-promotion, research and opinion. THE SOUND OF PLACE. This is the umbrella title for all my work that is place related. Having completed the CD Pilgrims' Way for my degree, I am now working on an interpretation of 2 JG Ballard books, Concrete Island and High Rise. Highly pl;ace related, these books I will interpret with a deliberately slower pace than my current work as an experiment with different tempos and narrative pacing. I have received a commission by Made Up Music. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Self-promotion, research and opinion. Sounds I admire and am influenced by as they spring to mind or get played a lot. Marion Brown, Geechee Reflections. Ace percussion, especially on Tokalokaloka, Parts One, Two and Three. Two great albums with Free/Deep Jazz line-ups to savour. I've had a week or so savouring all my Hutcherson vinyl.
