About the Speeding Bullet. Why Superman Newspaper Strips? Between 1939 and 1985, almost 12,000 Superman newspaper strips were published. Among these strips were first appearances of characters, unique storylines, original work from Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and early works from Superman comic artists.
