Monday, July 09, 2007. Don't forget to come and say hello in the RHDRA Heritage container at New Romney this coming Saturday - it will be open from 11 til 4 and it should be a good day for the 80th anniversary celebrations. Rye news - the local Apathy society are thinking of holding a meeting but probably wont bother! Interesting fact came out in Rye's Own magazine this month - the population of Rye remains much the same today as it was in 1946! Hopefully that means in number not actual people!

Sunday, December 17, 2006. Just realised how long it is since I updated the blog. Things have been rather absorbing at work with two large contracts coming to the end and busy trying to manage that and the usual finances plus the usual grief caused in the building trade by the artificial deadline of Christmas! Recovered from the op sufficiently to be fully operational at work and found the time to drive down to New Romney. Spent a pleasant day there with the RHDRA. Labels: Where have I been.

Friday, November 03, 2006. Two full weeks from the op and I am now fully mobile if slow! Can't believe how tired i've been - took the afternoon off yesterday and slept for two hours like a baby. Being at home a bit more than usual has given me more time to browse e-bay for RHDR stuff and I've acquired a couple of interesting magazines with relevant articles and am watching some early photos. I see the RHDR shop has started listing souvenir items, videos etc and have an official e-bay shop.

Moan of the day: Recycling obviously. For anyone who lives in Rye or the Rother. District you will know that the new recycling waste collection system is descending into farce. On the Rye subject - no surprise to see that our local MP thinks our fishing industry may be out of business within a year having just completed a multi-million pound revamp of the quayside! 26000 spent on a dismal christmas light display that in previous (pre nanny state) days was outclassed at a cost of only 800! The new road surface under the landgate arch has all but worn away in just a few months! As someone once said nothing ever changes but it always stays the same.

Market in town and then put up cctv cameras and signs warning that if you park for more than 1 1/2 hours you will get a 70 fine - also the same. If you return within 1 1/2 hours, you will be fined 70. Your picture is taken as you park and transgressors will be located with the help of the DVLA. Lets hope I don't forget the milk!
