Gentle Pursuits of Richmond EGA. Sunday, December 15, 2013. End of a Busy Year of Gentle Pursuits. Wonderful food, wonderful Ta-Das and a great meeting in November. Cathy Keith discussed how to use 4 specialty threads (with advice from The Stitching Studio. And the practice piece was a small plastic canvas that fit in a pen. What a great idea for a gift giving. Don't forget that our first meeting of the new year is not at the regular time. January 18, 2014 Meeting (Saturday). Links to this post.

http://gentlepursuits.blogspot.com/2014/04/march-2014-ackworth-sampler-lecture.html
Gentle Pursuits of Richmond EGA. Monday, April 7, 2014. March 2014 Ackworth Sampler Lecture. For those who couldn't attend the lecture, one of the best sites online to see Ackworth Samplers and order patterns is Needleprint. Both Dee and Holly agreed that the best book is Quaker School Girl Samplers from Ackworth. The breadth and scope of Holly's collection is very impressive! The Ta-Da table had some lovely items, including a couple of Kumihimo bracelets from Linda's February program and some dyed fabri...

Planting Annuals |

Images Found Here……. May 3, 2013. The only annual plant that gets put in the front flower beds; the deer do not like them. Saved lizards and beetles drowning in an upturned pot. Have replaced Impatiens; the local greenhouse’s Impatiens were hit with Downy Mildew. The humming birds will not be pleased, Impatiens were one of the plants they frequented. After spotting a male and female hummer, I took a break from playing in the dirt and put some fresh sugar-water out. Out My Back Door. Follow Blog via Email.

Gentle Pursuits of Richmond EGA: October 2013
http://gentlepursuits.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Gentle Pursuits of Richmond EGA. Monday, October 28, 2013. This is a somewhat belated post, but our annual Christmas in August class was once again a great success. Trisha Johnson did a crazy quilt ornament class for the group. Trisha pieced the fabric, leaving the embroidered seam treatments to us, and there was a choice of shapes. Lots of choices, which is always fun. Links to this post. There were some interesting items to share, especially the Halloween skirt made by Dee's mother many years ago.

Gentle Pursuits of Richmond EGA. Sunday, February 23, 2014. Dyeing Workshop with Catherine Jordan. A small group of stitchers from Gentle Pursuits and the Virginia Guild of Needlewomen, and a couple of guests, learned how to use Cushing Direct Dyes. If you want to try it at home. First we tried the Cushing Dyes. Catherine had cards showing other natural dyes. Who knew the dirt around here could be used to make nice fabric colors instead of just making it hard to clean the kids' laundry. Life, needlework ...
