The Stock Household: December 2014

http://thestockhousehold.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Picture of the Week: The Wrong Kind of Flowers. Lydia had her "parent observation day" at ballet. It's the closest thing to a recital for this class. Brian came straight from a meeting. He was a little bit late because he was determined to get flowers. In America, that's what daddies do when their little girls have recitals. They bring flowers. Posted by The Stock Household. On Materialism [Or "Why we ARE getting our kids Christmas presents"]. One for each year old they are? Everyone seems to be looking ...

The Stock Household: Picture of the Week: Asian Molly

http://thestockhousehold.blogspot.com/2015/06/picture-of-week-asian-molly.html

Picture of the Week: Asian Molly. I like to think that my girls are seeing themselves as not so different than the people around them. It's still strange to my ears to hear Lydia or Molly refer to this place as "home". America is a place we visit. It's a place with Grandma, Chick-fil-a and dreams of riding bikes on smooth streets. But they don't have dosas or mangoes. This is home. For now. Notice the girl two kids behind "Molly".the one who looks like my Molly. No, Mommy. That's not me.". Picture of the...

The Stock Household: March 2015

http://thestockhousehold.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Picture of the Week: Hotdogs. It was a Friday night and I planned to make a simple American dinner at home. One of Brian's (and my kids') favorites: hotdogs and potato salad. Easy. But this is where the blog post comes in. Nothing catastrophic happened to mess with my dinner plans. It was just the little things, the unexpected but not "out of nowhere", the disruptive annoyances (or adventures.depending on how you look at it! That made this dinner not so simple. I wash, cut and boil the potatoes. Twen...

The Stock Household: How Martha Saved My Mondays

http://thestockhousehold.blogspot.com/2015/06/how-martha-saved-my-mondays.html

How Martha Saved My Mondays. She's a little crazy. I mean, let's not forget she went to prison. Also, how on earth does she sheer her sheep, knit her own sweaters (after dyeing the yarn in her acai berry blend) and possess intimate knowledge of heirloom hydrangeas? A few years ago, my friend Dana introduced me to Martha's baking. She gave me this book. People come to my house and look at like a coffee-table book. It has a pictorial table of contents for every cookie organized by texture. They are all here.

Mommyhood and Ministry in Mississippi. One girls account of the joys and challenges that go along with both. Sunday, October 28, 2012. Youth Ministry Update, 3 Years Later. Fall Retreat: Tug of War. This month marks three years since we loaded up all our stuff and moved from Georgia to Mississippi to serve at Redeemer Church. And share with you from my heart how God has been working. Mommyhood and Ministry in Mississippi. One girls account of the joys and challenges that go along with both. Monday, May 14, 2012. What Could've Been a Scary Day. Tonight I am feeling the stress of what happened (or rather didn't happen) to me and the boys earlier today. I didn't know until a few hours later that at around 2:00 that afternoon, a man had been shot. And killed, in broad daylight, right in front of the library. You know, most of the time I honestly feel really safe here, we live on a quiet ...

Mommyhood and Ministry in Mississippi: Happy Fourth Birthday, Evan!

http://lesliecdean.blogspot.com/2012/12/happy-fourth-birthday-evan.html

Mommyhood and Ministry in Mississippi. One girls account of the joys and challenges that go along with both. Saturday, December 1, 2012. Happy Fourth Birthday, Evan! Evan as a newborn, November 2008. I'm afraid he comes by it honestly). Evan's also very sweet and sensitive. Whenever I get a "motherly tone" (you all know what I'm talking about) in correcting a behavior, he likes to make sure we are reconciled by saying, "I still love you, Mommy." Be still my heart! Levi looking cool at the table! Yes, we ...

Life on the Space Coast: January 2013

http://lifeonthespacecoast.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Life on the Space Coast. The adventures of Hunter, Beth, Eleanor, Arthur, and Oliver. Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Here are quite a few pictures from our new year so far. They're a little out of order, different sizes, and some pictures *refuse* to be centered. But I'm not OCD or anything. Having fun at IKEA! I love his little smile so. much. Cousins attempting to ride a bike together. It didn't work, but they were cute. Eleanor put on her Dilophosaurus costume from Halloween every day for about a week.

Life on the Space Coast. The adventures of Hunter, Beth, Eleanor, Arthur, and Oliver. Saturday, November 23, 2013. Arthur and I went to Target and I picked up a bag of white chocolate peppermint M&M's. "Want candy? Okay Arthur, you can have a couple of pieces when we get in the car." "Shop fast, Mama! By the way, these candies are amazing! Eleanor wanted to sing a song to me at bedtime (to prolong bedtime, of course). Give thanks to the Lord. For he is good.
