有位有心人 - 赵先生，提供了一下的资料。在这里先要谢谢他。我也做了一些调查，但是也没什么结果，不过我想这应该是蛮准确的一份资料。。。 八十年代初期， 笔者孩童时， 邻居是位大概有七八十岁的老爷爷。先父叔姑们都称呼他为范伯（ 姓范，真名不详；其后人应该还在卅二哩）。这位老人家嗓子大， 由于风湿症双腿弯曲，偶而提着拐杖， 一拐一拐来笔者家做客，与先父闲聊。好奇的童心特别喜欢听长辈们谈话（讲古）。其中， 范伯提到了开辟西连镇的先驱们。。。 如笔者所闻，第一批抵 达西连，开辟土地耕种有好几位先驱。。 但最为显赫有三位：杨氏， 陈氏， 黄氏。 很可惜。。。范伯当时特别地提到杨氏的沧桑点滴。笔者记忆犹新。。。 杨氏，祖籍湖南省长沙县（今为中国湖南省，长沙市，县：不详 村：不详 生于：不详 卒于：卅年代中期 ）, 杨氏南下先抵达印尼BANDUNG ，白手起家经营小本生意。好景不长，社会动荡，战火，。z...杨 氏个性高傲，不懂客家话。 但为人慷慨大方, 乐于助人。卅年代在木屋老店创立《万隆》商号经营小本杂货，饮食ᦁ...Special Site of Serian.

Serian as legend tells from the word 'se-re-an' (ular Sere'an) in Badayuh, a white, red n black strip snake commonly seen in the Serian river which pass thru the town. This information was provided by Mr Richard Bong. I have asked around in Serian but no body can give me a confirmed answer on this. Should any one who have more infor on this matter, may contact me.
