tea & parchment

A tag-along read of our current adventures, reflections, and findings. July 10, 2014. And then our plans changed. Two weeks after I wrote about our plans to stay in California, our world was shaken up again. We celebrated Dave's first Father's Day on Sunday. On Monday we were robbed in the middle of the night (while we were home). Tuesday Dave interviewed for a job with a software company. Literally every plan we tried to make in the last six months didn't work out (from birthing to jobs to location)....

tea & parchment: sweet child of mine

http://www.thestrobos.blogspot.com/2013/09/sweet-child-of-mine.html

A tag-along read of our current adventures, reflections, and findings. September 29, 2013. Sweet child of mine. On July 23, 2013 we found out we were parents. It didn't happen the way I expected- taking the test and all that, I mean. I had little hope that this cycle would be the 'one', but I groggily forced myself out of bed that Tuesday morning and headed to the bathroom while Dave remained asleep. I took the test ("You pee on a stick. It's idiot-proof! Tell me what you see! Even in his just-awoken sta...

tea & parchment: Mother's Day, 6 weeks, and end of the semester!

http://www.thestrobos.blogspot.com/2014/05/mothers-day-6-weeks-and-end-of-semester.html

A tag-along read of our current adventures, reflections, and findings. May 16, 2014. Mother's Day, 6 weeks, and end of the semester! We have a 6 week old child. Where has the time gone? 6 weeks old, on the way to my last post-op appointment. I think she was mid-yawn here. Whew This parenting thing isn't for the faint of heart. Dave and Naemi gave me the best first Mother's Day a girl could ask for. It was full of flowers, food, movies at home, and snuggles with my two favorite people in the world. So man...

http://www.thestrobos.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-birth-of-naemi-joy-part-1.html

A tag-along read of our current adventures, reflections, and findings. April 16, 2014. The Birth of Naemi Joy - Part 1. Naemi Joy was born at 12:04am on April 4, 2014. She weighed 10 lbs and 1 oz and was 21.5 inches long. Due to the longevity of her birth story, I’m breaking it up in parts. It’s a deeply personal story and one that I find a lot of joy in. It all started the Friday before. I went in for a routine check-up, fully expecting it to be yet another quick “How are you doing? For the first time i...

tea & parchment: On Motherhood

http://www.thestrobos.blogspot.com/2014/06/on-motherhood.html

A tag-along read of our current adventures, reflections, and findings. June 11, 2014. It's been a day, and it's not even 5 o'clock yet. My baby is almost 10 weeks old and in that time I've come to realize that motherhood isn't all I thought it would be. At the start of my day I drug my self to the kitchen to empty the dishwasher, only to find a bunch of unwashed. Dishes. Oh, let me tell you, we did turn on the dishwasher last night and. Remember to put soap in it. Guess I'll be hand washing that crockpot.

Ducks in a Row. One Photo a Day. Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Levi's Story, Part 1. April 1, 2012. That second faint, pink line…the little, tiny line that would change our lives forever in a way we never expected was both heartwarming and almost terrifying. I was pregnant a second time with new life, a baby. A BABY! We shared the news with my sister first. She was visiting at the time from Illinois. I looked back on the calendar and saw that this sweet little baby was likely conceived on November 1. The wo...

First off, a dear friend of ours (I will call him "K") wrote an epitaph for our Levi. I can't explain how precious that is to us, how much we treasure things people create for or in memory/honor of our boy. It says, " He mattered. He matters. He will always matter.
