Kathy Sweeney: June 2008
http://kathysweeney.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Surprised to hear from me again so soon? This is a 8x10 study of an old brass pot. As I mentioned in my last post I'm trying to loosen up and not sweat the details! The surface is a canvas panel and will fit in most 8 x 10 picture frames. I find a frame that I like and simply move the glass from the front of the frame to behind the panel for support. 45 includes shipping. Please e-mail me at the address below. Kathy Sweeney: Stepping Out
http://kathysweeney.blogspot.com/2009/04/stepping-out.html
This little painting was a challenge for me. The reference photo, taken by my son Michael, was of these gorgeous old oaks in the shade.with the sun poking through on some branches and shining on the distant marsh and tree line. It's hard, for me anyway, to convey the shade in the foreground and the sun in the background. If we don't push ourselves to try new things then we never learn. It's not easy moving out of our comfort zone, is it? Here's to stepping out! Contact Kathy At kathysweeney@gmail.com.

Kathy Sweeney: Playing with Clay
http://kathysweeney.blogspot.com/2009/04/playing-with-clay.html
I always loved a brand new container of Play Dough! I can still smell it! Well, two of my painting friends, Sandy McTier and Judy Nicewicz, were having so much fun and creating such gorgeous clay treasures that I had to dig in too! Sarah was staying with us for a few days over Spring Break and I had some heart shaped Altoid tins . a recipe for fun! 160;We played with clay on her last visit so that was the first thing she wanted to do when she arrived. Happy Passover and Happy Easter!

Kathy Sweeney: November 2007
http://kathysweeney.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
You might recall the Carolina Moon Santa that I painted on wood. He was designed by Jill "Winna" Mordasky and we had the best time painting him in a workshop. Winna gave us permission, and instructions, to reproduce him by decoupaging a good color copy to a piece of wood. Her conditions were that we credit her on the reverse side. Nothing Could Be Finer Than Christmas In Carolina. Contact Kathy At kathysweeney@gmail.com. Links to this post. My son Michael is a professional photographer. I gave him a ...

http://kathysweeney.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
This is a new ornament I just finished. I had a hard time photographing it in the light tent due to reflections in the room. I think I need to relocate my "photography studio"! There's more on this ornament at my companion blog:. Http:/ www.memoriesunderglass.blogspot.com/. I've begun the second Blog dedicated to selling ornaments. I've also opened an Etsy store. So I've been busy! The gateway to both blogs and the Etsy Store is http:/ www.kathysweeney.com/. Drop by for a visit! Links to this post. And t...

Kathy Sweeney: Christmas In July!
http://kathysweeney.blogspot.com/2009/07/christmas-in-july.html
Merry Christmas.a little early! Last week I taught a craft class at the Lowcountry Senior Center. We shared the holiday spirit as we made these shell filled and crushed shell embellished ornaments. It was a great afternoon! I plan to teach more arts and crafts projects in the days ahead. As of June 30th Eddie and I closed our cellular phone store. The last few months have been consumed with store closing related details and I've had little or no time to be creative. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Kathy Sweeney: February 2008
http://kathysweeney.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Sunset At Folly Beach. Hi, it's me! I apologize for my lengthy absence. Eddie, my significant other, has been in poor health and last week had surgery. The neurosurgeon believes he's found the source of the problem and corrrected it. We're praying that he's right! I returned to my oil class on Monday and finished this 16x20 that I had left at the lay-in stage. The exercise was to show the influence of the setting sun on the surrounding landscape . or seascape in this case. Links to this post.

Apples Violet Underpainting Finished. I finished my Violet Underpainting class assignment a week ago but I left it at the studio to dry. I ended up leaving the fabric more violet than it actually is because I liked the purple/yellow complement. The value study exercises have really helped me. AND I may even get out the clay! I have a small tin just begging to be covered! Contact Kathy At kathysweeney@gmail.com. Links to this post. Sarah and Nana's Great Adventure! Links to this post. I've been working...
