Tuesday, August 9, 2011. A House of Order: "Establishing a House of Prayer and Faith.". Since I've fallen off the bandwagon a few times in this series, I thought it would be good to give my readers a reminder about the "A House of Order" series I've been working on, based on the LDS scripture below:. Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing, and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning,. A house of glory,. More holiness give me,. Old-Fashioned Motherhood: December 2014
http://blog.oldfashionedmotherhood.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 16, 2014. The almost impossible thing. is to hand over your whole self to Christ. But it is far easier than what we are all trying to do instead.". Dear friends and sister-mothers,. As you probably noticed, the OFM blog has been pretty quiet for a few months. I have been going through a rough year with one of my children, and it has made me feel like I have nothing to contribute to other mothers. Who do you think YOU are? You have no business trying to help other moms.". I have been rea...

Thursday, February 26, 2015. Serving in the Home. A woman with a mother heart [knows that to] nurture and feed [her family] physically is as much an honor as to nurture and feed them spiritually. She is “not weary in well-doing” and delights to serve her family, because she knows that “out of small things proceedeth that which is great” ( D&C 64:33. Julie B. Beck. Recently during our church meetings, one of our church leaders talked about the term "Personal Ministry.". And less about ourselves. I am so e...

Old-Fashioned Motherhood: January 2015

Saturday, January 3, 2015. A Word for the New Year. The last couple of years, I have joined some of my blogging friends and chosen one word or phrase that encapsulates all my goals and ideals for the new year. I feel like 2014 held some of my biggest, most difficult trials, and also some wonderful blessings. I've seen several people online saying how glad they are that 2014 is over- and I kind of agree. But the good things that did happen in 2014 were worth it, including:. Giving my very first. The last ...

(They're also known as "Funeral Potatoes," due to their propensity for being served at funerals, as well.). I enjoy making this delicious casserole as a side dish, or even as the main course*. (In our home, we have to double the recipe.) Try them today- I know your family will love them! 8 to 10 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed. 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided.

Thursday, July 26, 2012. The Purpose of Motherhood. A mother taking a moment from doing her laundry by hand to love and comfort her child. 8220;When the real history of mankind is fully disclosed, will it feature the echoes of gunfire or the shaping sound of lullabies? The great armistices made by military men or the peacemaking of women in homes and in neighborhoods? Will what happened in cradles and kitchens prove to be more controlling than what happened in congresses? 8221; Neal A. Maxwell. Women for...

http://blog.oldfashionedmotherhood.com/2011/09/old-fashioned-homemaking-clothesline.html
Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Old-Fashioned Homemaking: The Clothesline. Drying Clothes" by Helen Allingham. My sweet aunt shared this with me today, and I knew my readers would appreciate it! THE BASIC RULES FOR CLOTHESLINES. 1 You had to wash the clothes line before hanging any clothes- walk the entire lengths of each line with a damp cloth around the lines. 2 You had to hang the clothes in a certain order, and always hang "whites" with "whites," and hang them first.
