Monday, June 6, 2011. AEON Application and Interview Process. Ive applied for AEON (pronounced ee-on, dont get it wrong at the seminar! Twice; the first time was just to see what would happen. AEON is an eikaiwa as well, focusing on teaching small groups (5-10) of various ages depending on the group. I probably know the most about this company given that I applied twice. Rising Daikon: Applying for a Japanese Work VISA
http://risingdaikon.blogspot.com/2012/03/applying-for-japanese-work-visa.html
Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Applying for a Japanese Work VISA. Applying for a Japanese work visa involves a trick any alchemist would be proud of: transmuting a CoE ( Certificate of Eligibility). Very Impressive Script of Actuation). Okay, visa isn't actually an acronym, but you do. Need a CoE before you can get a working visa for Japan. Click 'read more' to unravel the secrets of the secrety things! You may be asked to write the petition letter to the Japanese government yourself. Lame. Think of the CoE ...

Rising Daikon: The School Experience
http://risingdaikon.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-school-experience.html
Friday, October 19, 2012. What is it like to work as an ALT? Before coming to Japan, it seemed everyone had a different opinion on working at schools in Japan. I found this odd since everyone had the same job as an ALT. Seven months in, it all makes sense: your experience depends entirely on the school for which you work. Reprimanded once for looking at funny pictures on the computer. Other friends, though, routinely go on Facebook and even show event pictures to their teachers! More likely, however, you...

Wednesday, February 29, 2012. JET vs Interac: An Objective Comparison. When comparing JET vs Interac, there are many different factors to take into account. For the curious, enterprising ALT, Ill give the short answer: If moneys your game and youre feeling lucky, apply to JET. Or go to Las Vegas. Is there really a life changing difference between JET and Interac? In the first collaborative post between myself and The Sushi Complex. Posted by Benjamin Brannan. Location: Orlando, FL, USA.

Saturday, November 12, 2011. A History of Japan: From Stone Age to Superpower (Henshall). In preparation for Japan, and hopefully in an effort to avoid culture shock, Ive decided on a collection of books to help me understand the country in which Ill hopefully be spending the next several years of my life. I narrowed the important aspects of Japan down to only four: History, Culture, Etiquette, and Politics. Posted by Benjamin Brannan. Location: Orlando, FL, USA. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Sushi Complex Travels: Tokushima
http://thesushicomplextravels.blogspot.com/2012/08/tokushima.html
The Sushi Complex Travels. Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Kagawa, another of the four prefectures of Shikoku, and also on my list of Golden week. Again, look to the upper right for Kyoto and Osaka for reference. Tokushima is famous for its whirlpools. Braver souls than I will venture out into the swirling madness on a ferry boat tour that will actually venture inside the whirlpool and cross it for closer looks. Posted by Lauren Redpath. The Sushi Complex Travels: Kagawa
http://thesushicomplextravels.blogspot.com/2012/08/kagawa.html
The Sushi Complex Travels. Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Kagawa. The one thing you have to do here above all else is eat udon. I was actually told that Kagawa is the capital of udon a fact which is recognized throughout Japan, to the point that if you wrote udon-ken (it would typically say kagawa-ken, the prefectural name) on a post card, it will be shipped there. As with many of the older and more popular shrines, there is an inner and outer shrine. The main hall and area of the shrine is located at a...

The Sushi Complex Travels: Kochi
http://thesushicomplextravels.blogspot.com/2012/08/kochi.html
The Sushi Complex Travels. Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Kochi is one of the four prefectures that make up Shikoku. If you look at the kanji for Shikoku, it is 四国, the first part meaning four, and the latter meaning country. So four countries. Or in this case, prefectures. Osaka and Kyoto are to the upper right for reference. As far as people are concerned, the most prized personal Kochi has to offer is Sakamoto Ryouma, whose name might not mean much to many Westerners or perhaps many young people anywhere...
