Musings on creativity, perfectionism and getting the most bang for the buck. Sunday, August 23, 2015. Final Snap Shots of Europe 2015. We are leaving for Taipei, Taiwan in one week. I finally admitted to myself that I'm not going to write my final posts about Europe. As a compromise, I'm posting snapshots. If you are intrigued about any of these pictures, ask, and I might be able to tell you the story behind them. The American Military Cemetery. We stayed in the guest room at Darwin College. Musings on creativity, perfectionism and getting the most bang for the buck. Thursday, May 22, 2014. Knitting on the Rogue. Exactly one week ago today, I was at Garabaldi, on the Oregon Coast, with my old friend Katy, and my new friend Gaye. We were having a knitting/Mah Jongg/gourmet dinner/adult beverage kind of holiday. One might call it camp for grown ups. I had never met Gaye before, but when she walked in wearing her J ane Thornley, Rogue Wave Wrap. Added it to my sale bin yarns. If I wasn't such a...

Twice Knit: June 2011
http://jamarp50.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Musings on creativity, perfectionism and getting the most bang for the buck. Thursday, June 30, 2011. I have never knit to make money. I have rarely knit for other people. I have learned over the years that, with the exception of my mother and my cousin Maren, my other family members tolerate my knitting and frequently lose the objects that I knit for them. Therefore, I knit for myself and that is that. Knit a stocking. I replied that I could. Thinking that I would not. Labels: Christmas intarsia stocking.

Twice Knit: Quimper, the Faience, Part I
http://jamarp50.blogspot.com/2015/08/quimper-faience-part-i.html
Musings on creativity, perfectionism and getting the most bang for the buck. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Quimper, the Faience, Part I. In 1976 Taylor and I got married. We had a rather casual wedding, with no guests, and no gift registry. However, my best friend's mother, Mrs Finn, gave us a charming faience casserole dish. When we determined to travel to the U.K. this year, and to branch out to Normandy, we asked ourselves, "Why not go to Brittany and visit Quimper? This was one of the few unglazed pieces.

http://jamarp50.blogspot.com/2015/08/st-malo-france.html
Musings on creativity, perfectionism and getting the most bang for the buck. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. St Malo, France. Last year I read the book, All the Light We Cannot See. By Anthony Doerr, which is partially set in St Malo, France. When we decided we wanted to visit Normandy and Brittany, I knew that I wanted to see St Malo. We stayed at the Hotel San Pedro three nights - on the 4th floor. There were 70 steps to our room. The elevator was big enough for our suitcases. We had an amazing mussel dinner.

Twice Knit: Dear Soup
http://jamarp50.blogspot.com/2015/08/dear-soup.html
Musings on creativity, perfectionism and getting the most bang for the buck. Saturday, August 15, 2015. I was relaxing at Paddington Station, in London, the other day, when I met two bewildered Americans. I introduced myself to them and learned that they are your grandparents. When they told me they are going to Taipei to meet you in September, I thought, "I've never been to Taiwan." Then I asked them if I could come with them. Guess what? Your grandpa put me in his backpack, and I'm coming to Taipei.
