Saturday, August 29, 2009. A Class of Her Own. It's almost hard to believe, but the munchkin started school this week! Here are some snapshots of her first day at school. The Rise of the Know-It-All. I suppose it's understandable. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Entire books have been written by some of these people. Specific to the dance front, this supposed prowess often comes as a result of having studied with such-and-such and so-and-so. Or with the sheer amount of time one has spent with tango. Neither of which necessarily means anything. One question that I'm sick of hearing when meeting someone new is, "How long have you been dancing? What else to discover?

On the lack of dynamic in United States tango. Anyway, I'd be curious to hear from others on this. It does resemble my own struggle on the way ahead: and I tink I am one of those no force leaders, even though I would not say no energy. What I find odd is your friends comment that she feels less connected that way. Without knowing much more I dont understand, yet have an idea:. To me there is a triangle of connection, music and energy that makes up tango. Anything less is figures, steps and practise.

Elementary Tango Physics (22 nov 2008). In the past my problem was, I'm guessing, an excessive flattening of this force (which is why, I surmise, teachers often reiterated that I use the ground more). The risk in this is that the partner doesn't feel the intention as clearly as she should. As one person put it, borrowing a phrase from Gertrude Stein, "There's no there. Wednesday, April 15, 2009. After hearing rave reviews about the place from moms in the neighborhood, I finally found time to check out Pump It Up with Kayla. Filled with giant inflatables, this popular indoor play facility offers "Pop in Playtimes" where parents and kids can bounce, slide, climb and jump together. Sunday, April 12, 2009.
