El Puerto De Perdon. Lots of people tried to go too fast and were gasping for air. Better walk slowly and take it step by step, or rather paso a paso. After four hours you get on the top and take photos, many photos. The witches were also there and we had a great laugh. Here we meet the first Spaniard with some business acumen! The Tasty Pilgrim: Singing in the Rain

Singing in the Rain. Last night I stayed at the enormous hangar in Roncevalles. Inside the cloister there is an office where you fill in a form and pay 6 Euro and get a voucher for a bed. I was number 88! But more than a hundred people talking makes for a noisy beehive. In the middle of the night we had a thunderstorm, quite impressive. Perhaps a warning from the holy Saint to take the pilgrimage seriously. Dinner is waiting for me now, but I will continues the conversation after. Design by Fryske *.

Felt just like a pilgrim from the middle ages who had to go along such primitive paths. You see the origin of a path is usually a deer track! I walked on till I came at the town of Viana. Only once I stopped in a bar for a caffee con leche and a boccadillo con tortilla frances. I stepped into bed and enjoyed the sleep of the innocent. Tuesday, February 8, 2011. I really, really like Mark Bittman's. I've written about it here before, what can I say? I am usually leery of cookbooks promising too much, too fast, too-anything, but Bittman is an exception. Without fail, each time I prepare one of his recipes, I think, "this is going to be bland, it's too easy, too plain, too.minimal." I thought that with his cassoulet and was, of course wrong again. When will I learn? 1-2 onions, chopped. 1-2 carrots, chopped. 1-2 stalks of celery, chopped.
