なぜなら、チェックリストの項目はうつ病の症状を列挙しているものであり、 患者各々が なぜ、どのような形で うつ病になってしまったのかを占うものではないからです。 チェックリスト自体は、 結果としてうつ状態になってしまった患者 のためのものであり、 本当にうつ病かどうか、さらに根本的な解決策が何であるのかという問題は、 医師やカウンセラーとともに乗り越えてゆくものなのです。 リストの項目の中には 重症の項目 と 軽症の項目 があります. ただ、この並べられた症状のうち、 これが当てはまっているだけでうつ病の可能性が高まる という 症状と これだけではまだうつとまではいえない という症状があるのです。 前者の症状として代表的なものが 一日中憂鬱であり、なにのやる気もおきない という項目と なにも楽しくなく、つまらない という項目です。 例えば 気分の落ち込み や ぼんやりとする などのものです。
