The Teaching Chameleon
http://theteachingchameleon.blogspot.com/2015/04/part-of-our-4th-grade-unit-on.html
Monday, April 6, 2015. As part of our 4th grade unit on the revolutionaries of the past, we look specifically at poems and non-fiction texts that address the key people of the American Revolution. We read Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Ralph Waldo Emerson's poems about the Battle of Lexington and Concord. We compare and contrast the form and content of both poems in venn diagram or In Regards To graphic organizers. For example, students compare length and time period written. I have students create the p...

The Teaching Chameleon: Sink or Swim
http://theteachingchameleon.blogspot.com/2015/02/sink-or-swim.html
Sunday, February 1, 2015. I drive about an hour everyday to and from my school. It gives me a lot of time to prepare for the day and reflect on it on the way home. I had a meeting recently about a student and on the way to school that day, I was thinking of what I needed to share and I thought about my ultimate goal for the child - independence. One thing I always find in these meetings is that everyone involved wants what's best for the child, but may differ in what we feel is best.

Monday, April 6, 2015. Revolutionaries From the Past. As part of our 4th grade unit on the revolutionaries of the past, we look specifically at poems and non-fiction texts that address the key people of the American Revolution. We also read these texts in small groups:. Students choose which texts appeals to them and they read them aloud together. The groups get to decide which way they read- -either choral or taking turns. There are multiple people, and I have them write notes on each. I have students c...

Our Beautiful Ride : The Zoo!
http://bradandrachelz.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-zoo.html
Thursday, April 9, 2015. A couple weeks ago Parker and I met Jen and Luke and Sarah and Brody at the KC Zoo. We weren't really thinking about it being Spring Break, but as soon as we pulled in to the parking lot we remembered it was the first day of break for many of the schools around the city (except Drew and Jack's district! Once we got in the zoo it wasn't too bad since the zoo is pretty spread out. The weather was perfect and we had a fun day hanging with our boys and watching the animals. My Grocer...

Our Beautiful Ride : January 2014
http://bradandrachelz.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 16, 2014. I have gotten a little behind on my Parker updates so I'm going to give a run down of the past couple of months. Parker is now 17 months and getting more and more independent each day. The big news around here is that we officially have a WALKING toddler. It took him a little while to master this skill but once he got the hang of it, he hasn't looked back! He absolutely loves that he can walk - actually I should say run since that's about the only speed he knows - everywhere!
Our Beautiful Ride : November 2013
http://bradandrachelz.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 18, 2013. Just wanted to share some pictures of Parker outside yesterday afternoon. It was super windy here but the temperatures were in the 60's so we decided to go outside for awhile. He loved sitting in his wagon watching Brad pick up all of the leaves that had fallen off our trees from the crazy wind! Side note: He LOVES his winter hat and gloves and screams every time I take them off! Thursday, November 7, 2013. Just a quick update on our 15 month old! Head 18.5.55%. We're still no...
Our Beautiful Ride : February 2014
http://bradandrachelz.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Brad turned 30 this past Sunday so Parker and I helped him celebrate! My Mom had texted me right as we were getting ready for Brad to open his gifts so I asked her and my Dad to join us via Skype. They helped me sing him Happy Birthday, and watched as Brad opened his gifts. Later that night, we went to Culver's and had dinner and ice cream. It was a fun day with our little family! Brad chose brownies over a cake this year. I forgot to snap a picture before he dug in.oops!

Our Beautiful Ride : July 2014
http://bradandrachelz.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Yesterday, I did some work on the computer for Parker's upcoming birthday party. I was working on invitations, decorations, and such. I downloaded a font to use for the decorations and although I got a few pop ups, I didn't think I was doing any harm. Last night when Brad was using the computer he found that it downloaded like 9 extra programs along with a handful of malware and viruses! I will be working to get it fixed and back to normal SOON! Ugh, technology some days! Parker...

Our Beautiful Ride : May 2014
http://bradandrachelz.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 29, 2014. Parker must be a good boy because he got treats from the Easter Bunny and his Grandparents and his Auntie Meg and Uncle Bret! Cousins and A Carousel Ride. One day in April, we made a trip to the mall with Aunt Jen, Jack, and Luke. While there, we had to take time for a carousel ride. Parker wasn't sure what to think - I don't think he could figure out why he kept going up and down. :) Parker always has fun with his cousins! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Cousins and A Carousel Ride.
