Teaching Theology | A blog for theological educators by Graham Cheesman | Page 2

A blog for theological educators by Graham Cheesman. Posted February 1, 2016 by Graham Cheesman. In my youth, I knew a girl who wore peppermint flavoured lipstick. Now, once I had said this to my theology class, there were two types of knowing in the room; their knowing which was purely theoretical and my knowing which was both theoretical and experiential! They have started with the theory and now want the experience (whether their wives and girlfriends will play along with this is, of course doubtful).

A blog for theological educators by Graham Cheesman. Archive for the ‘Uncategorized’ category. Laquo; Teaching Theology home page. Laquo; Older Entries. September 1, 2016. Should we be anxious for the future of theological education? For me, the anxiety comes from a growing feeling that, in certain areas and in certain ways, we are losing the ability to define or even circumscribe our calling. We are being blown about, and sometimes off track, by strong winds. Here are five of them;. I have a dream.

The Theological Mosaic

One cannot speak of God simply by speaking of [humanity] in a loud voice." Karl Barth. Thursday, April 14, 2011. At the end of the term. It is the end of the Spring term, and I have been thinking about my blogging life, such as it is. I created this blog to add some extra content and/or questions and/or play to the content of the Theological Mosaic class. This term I also started to blog on a different site and realize that I need to give a little more 'face' time to that endeavor. Thursday, April 7, 2011.

Theological Musings

Thoughts on the person and work of Jesus. Sunday, November 22, 2009. Anxiety of the heart is a disbelief in the providential hand of God which is manifested in many ways. It is a doubting of God’s character. It is the belief that something other than God has power and control at that moment in time. Anxiety happens when something other than God becomes more important in your heart, thus anxiety is idolatry. Here are a few examples. Our value is not dependent upon what we eat but who feeds us. Jesus is ca...

Saturday, 4 July 2015. The terrorist life-world improvises its own meaning from the standard rationale of living according to principle. But this principle is to be found only in its militants ends and not in their means. Even as the life-world becomes operational through the agency of its militants, they are bound by their conditions to refuse the applicability of its constraints upon themselves.  .
