the time project

The Time Project began in the fall of 2009 when twelve artists, all women between the ages of 52 and 75, committed to individually create one piece of art a week over the course of a year and working with the concept of time. They also agreed to meet once a month to share their work. Participating artists are listed to the right. Click on an artist's name to link to her work and artist statement.

Nature has always inspired my art. I find her perfect balance, color combinations, textures and designs, especially intriguing, motivating me to try a wide variety of artistic expressions to speak to her grandeur. Performance Video at Jamaica Plain Library. I consider myself a culture bearer, an intergenerational connector. Understanding our history strengthens a sense of who we are and also common threads in our respective histories. History, transmitted through poetry and music provides a vehicle for building a world. I hope my work helps to move us from hatred and misunderstanding to community. Even when it does not go as planned there can still be nuggets that reach audience members. That feedback is impor...

weepingcrow studio: August 2010

http://weepingcrow.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 22, 2010. Week #52 - Time Project. On one of my walks I came across three hubcaps lined up against a fence neat as you please. This shot had the reflection, which amused me. So here it is to end our year which has sped by. The verse is a tanka, a relative of the haiku which has two additional seven syllable lines. I guess I felt I needed a little more space to express my thought. Sunday, August 15, 2010. Week #51 Time Project. Time Project year. That's what I'd like to say. This is more ex...

Monday, May 25, 2015. May 25, 2015. Seems a good time to send out images of what I've been making over last year or so. This is the first completed of what I call my Library series. I have standing by at least one more library not yet completed. It seems the most challenging part is chosing the presentation phase. The inspiration/statement I was trying to embody has to do with the transitions libraries are going through and what I've experienced as a devaluing of libraries. I'm not sure if anyone will re...

Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Have to make a correction to my saying in my last post that my Old Woman Reading. Was inspired by a Rembrandt. It seems that that painting was by a contemporary and friend of his named Jan Lievens. Rembrandt did also paint more than one Old Woman Reading. But I think the one Sister Wendy Beckett discussed is by Lievens. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). December 16 2014 Have to make a correction to my . Http:/ timegoddessproject.blogspot.com. Sunday, May 30, 2010. Week #40 Time Project haiga. This torso - or so it seems to me - is what remains of one of the cactus ancesters. And the background is from a piece of tissue that I peeled off the torso. That's probably more than you cared to know about my cactus dilemna. So I'll end this tale of the cacti from Ohio. Wednesday, August 28, 2013. August 28, 2013. It's been a couple of years since I last blogged. But I've been busy and here are photos of the books I've been making. These were done in the spring and I'm still in the process of deciding how or whether to combine the poetry I write with the images I create. I go back and forth. But these approached what I was trying to do and were wonderful learning experiences. Photos taken by Gail Handelmann. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Time Project Blog.

Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Time Project Bonus of sorts. I guess it's hard to shake a year long habit. I took a walk this afternoon and this was the last shot I took and the one I liked best. I'd been thinking about what to put for the profile on my blog and then I saw my shadow. I took several shadow shots until as I was almost to my car and I saw this tree and the late afternoon light. Saturday, November 29, 2014. November 29, 2014. To my surprise and delight this photograph of mine was one of three juror's choices in the Platinum Show at the Cambridge Art Association. It was one of those times when something I was looking at suddenly called for photography and this time one of the shots worked to my satisfaction. I have found that reflections and the background of my house capture my interest. I call this one Selfie 01. I thank that's all for today. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
