Life of a Missionary Wife: May 2015
http://lifeofamissionarywife.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
May 11, 2015. Last week we started reading Farmer Boy. The girls are enjoying the story of young Almanzo and so am I. The descriptions of the food served in their home make it very tempting to go create something yummy to munch but I'm amazed by the amount of food one little boy could eat. How different our family's eating habits (and work! It also keeps their hands busy coloring while I read. I also continue to read the "My First Little House Books" as they apply. Little House school year. When the girl...

Life of a Missionary Wife: Our School Year
http://lifeofamissionarywife.blogspot.com/2015/02/our-school-year.html
February 26, 2015. So I have yet to post on our 2014-2015 school year, mostly due to feeling overwhelmed with life. But after some spiritual growth, a couple great big breaths and some time, life seems to be setting a more even pace. Our school year started out much like last year and the year before. You can read about those here. So I continued to pray. Little House school year. Our School Year - Continued. Encouragement from a Distant Land. Little House school year.

Life of a Missionary Wife: Grandparents

February 08, 2015. Checking out the termites together. One of the things missionary kids miss out on most is time with extended family, especially grandparents. We are truly blessed to have parents (both sides of the family! Who desire to actively build a relationship with their grandkids via phone calls, Skype, packages, letters and time spent with them. Celebrating Grandma'a's birthday with her! The girls with Grandma the last time we were in the US. Our School Year - Continued. Little House school year.

Life of a Missionary Wife: 2013-2014 Homeschooling Curriculum
http://lifeofamissionarywife.blogspot.com/2014/02/2013-2014-homeschooling-curriculum.html
February 07, 2014. The girls in our classroom: today's craft. Without further ado, I'm going to share our current curriculum. The easiest way for me to do that is to share a day in the classroom with you. This year I am teaching a first grader (7 year old), an official preschooler (5 year old) and an "unofficial" preschooler (3 year old). This is what a typical "perfect" day looks like in our classroom (with the focus on 1st grade):. Reading aloud comes next with Sonlight's Core B: found here. The girls ...

Life of a Missionary Wife: Life
http://lifeofamissionarywife.blogspot.com/p/why.html
I have a Maker with a perfect plan. A plan for redemption, necessary after one wrong decision. I believe in a story, told for many years to countless generations. It holds the truth. Without sin I have no need for a Savior but every day of my life I see my shortcomings. I'm quick to anger when my child spills her milk. I choose not to take the path of peace in a heated discussion with my husband. I worry about what tomorrow will bring. I gossip with a friend. I am a sinner in need of a Savior. With Chris...

February 27, 2015. Our School Year - Continued. This is part two to our 2014-2015 school year plans. You can read the first part here. We made butter using the "shake it" method! When you consider read alouds! Punching designs into "tin". So we are now a month into our Little House unit study which we will do for two semesters. We started with a book we have in our personal library called "A Pioneer Sampler" (found here. Along with the "Sampler" we have been reading poetry (currently from Robert Louis St...

Life of a Missionary Wife: Pioneer Homeschool Continued

March 24, 2015. Today we are making cheese! After reading "Summertime" in Little House in the Big Woods. We just had to make cheese. We're doing the simplest version I know: buy some yogurt, drop it in a cloth and let it drip dry. We definitely won't get hard cheese that way but it will give the girls a taste of the process and not be as intense as Ma's process. Craft time: Bears in the Woods, simple construction paper circle bears. We also made an addition to our log cabin: an Ingalls family made of yarn.
