Help for dogs with separation anxiety. Tuesday, 12 June 2012. Breakthrough after 4 weeks. Relieved is an understatement! Finally after 4 weeks of training and meds, Tom has shown drastic improvement in behaviour when we leave for work. After he goes outside for his morning walk, he comes back and start licking his snout for his breakfast ;). He is still not very self assured, but even around other dogs he is starting to act calmer. PS He still prefers chewing his bowl rather than the dog food inside the ...

Sometimes you as owner get demotivated - you feel that it doesn't matter how hard you try, he just does not help. I have had that feeling numerous times throughout the last couple of months. I can vouch, just hang in there, you are taking it much harder than your dog. We also try and socialise him as much as possible, short periods of times with other dogs and increasing the time slowly. Help for dogs with separation anxiety. Wednesday, 6 June 2012. My apologies for not writing in a while. IMPORTANT POINT: NEVER HIT A DOG DISPLAYING SEPARATION ANXIETY. Any thoughts on that? He absolutely loves his teddy, teddy even has to go with in the rain and back again into his den :( But I don't mind that, whatever makes him feel safe, is okay with me.
