Gospel Motivated: Are Mormons Christian?
http://www.gospelmotivated.com/2012/07/are-mormons-christian.html
Monday, July 16, 2012. Former LDS President Gordon B. Hinckley publicly declared, “Of course I am. I believe in Christ. I talk of Christ. I pray through Christ. I'm trying to follow Him and live His gospel in my life." [1]. I guess that settles it, or does it? It is easy to simply wave the banner of Christ, but could this possibly be a camouflaged enemy flag? To be a Christian traditionally meant that you accepted the teachings of Jesus Christ. Attributes of Jesus Christ. Are Mormon’s teaching anot...

Gospel Motivated: The Gospel

How does God determine how His creation should conduct themselves? It is based upon His own character that is revealed in the Law of God. God demands perfect obedience to His Law (James 2:10). Why would God require that creation perfectly obey Him? It is because God Himself is a Holy God (Matt 5:48). The standard of perfection is not determined, therefore, by man, but by God alone. How do we know if we have perfectly obeyed God, and if not, what are the consequences for disobedience? Follow me on Twitter.

Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Are We Practicing Graceless Thanksgiving? It’s that time of year where we kick our thankful sensors into high gear. Who wants to be the Scrooge. Even the non-religious will cast judgment if you lack zeal in participating. The pressure to verbalize our sincere gratitude often is motivated by guilt. Ever year we look at our hearts and reality sets in…we just aren’t as thankful as we should be. So, what do we do? Resolve to be more grateful! Can we force gratitude?

Sunday, December 15, 2013. I Believe In Grace, BUT. Grace seems radical because it smashes many of the modern views of sanctification. For the sake of time, I’m not going to present my view here in the introduction but unfold it as we deal with each question. These are three of the most common questions I receive when dealing with grace and sanctification:. I believe in grace, BUT…. 1 Won’t this encourage people to do whatever they want? Someone said this to me just this week! Are being transformed into ...

Gospel Motivated: Book Reviews

There is a whole shelf full of books on parenting in my office and thousands more available online. If I could only recommend one of them, it would be this one. Why? Because it is not guilt driven but “Gospel-Powered.” Every parent struggles with their ability to properly shepherd their children. What we don’t need is book number 80,832 telling us page after page how we have failed and the only solution is to “be a better parent.”. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Jon Moffitt - Young Adult Pastor.

Monday, April 30, 2012. Off-the-Wall: History of the KJV Bible Part-1. Once in awhile I will have an Off-the-Wall post that is a detour from the normal function of this blog. Why? Simply because I find it interesting :). This is a paper I wrote a couple of years ago and thought it would be interesting to some of you. This year will be the 401 anniversary of the King James Bible. Part one will cover: Why Did King James Want Another Bible? The complete paper with footnotes can be found HERE. I better put a...

Gospel Motivated: God's Perspective Of You - Psalm 139
http://www.gospelmotivated.com/2014/12/gods-perspective-of-you-from-psalm-139.html
Wednesday, December 17, 2014. God's Perspective Of You - Psalm 139. The greatest hope and encouragement we can find is not in what we have done for God, but what He has done, and is doing, for us as His children. God loves you. To some, this brings an emotional rush of gratitude. To others, it’s just a Christian slogan or an over used manipulation. What’s the difference between the two responses? Understanding. One knows what is meant, and the other only assumes. What do they even truly know about me?
