The Traveling Bears: April 2011

http://thetravelingbears.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 17, 2011. It's long way from Morocco, that's for sure! But here we are back in Jeannie's home county, the holiday land of my youth, and where we were married. Botallack Mines: iconic Cornish coast. We stayed for nearly two weeks at Kerriers. Kerriers Farm, as seen from our studio. Cold beer, hot tub: great way to end a day's walking. Sorry, but I love camellias. Next, Le Tour! Jeannie on the Camel Trail (The Camel is a river, not a bike). Coastal walks in Cornwall are a sharp contrast betwe...

The Traveling Bears: October 2014

Sunday, October 26, 2014. Kyoto: culture in spades. We wondered whether Hokkaido is to the rest of Japan as Newfoundland is to Canada, or Tasmania is to the rest of Australia: a bit off the end and sometimes the butt of jokes, but it was too difficult a question for our Japanese contacts. However there was no doubt when we arrived in Kyoto that we had come both to a bigger city and one which has a long, long history. Kyoto Station. The trains are hidden somewhere down below. Nishiki Market, downtown Kyoto.

The Traveling Bears: December 2010

http://thetravelingbears.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 20, 2010. Our neighbour Jo has been troubled for some time with water under her house, to the extent that her backyard has become a swamp. After some time, and an attempt to shift the blame to her downpipes, Southern Water turned up this afternoon to deal with it (and in a typically Tasmanian way the guy in charge was the brother of Jo's ex-housemate). What Marty wants to do when he grows up. There goes the front garden. What an exciting afternoon! And a Merry Christmas to all our readers.

The Traveling Bears: May 2011

http://thetravelingbears.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 31, 2011. We saw this sign often. But the dogs were usually inside. While we were walking in Tuscany we passed a paddock with a flock of sheep. Just like a number of others, but in this case four "sheep" detached themselves from the flock and raced towards us barking savagely. These were Maremma sheepdogs. Specially bred to live with the sheep and protect them from wolves, or Australian tourists. Not too rash, now. Saturday, May 28, 2011. A Tale of Two Cities: Florence and Rome. Climbing the...

Jim and Cheryl's Marvellous Adventures. Notes from Prague to Greece. Preliminary notes from Santorini →. June 1, 2011. Ya sas (pronounced Yasooss, it means G’day),. Is the photo above an iconic Greek Island look or what? I’ve had several swims, including one in the sea at Agios Prokopios beach. We’ve drunk far too many 1/2 litre carafes of wine by the pool and are feeling extremely relaxed. We were introduced to most of the cast. The Adventures of a Cornish Walker

http://racing-ruth.blogspot.com/2013/07/18.html

Thursday, July 18, 2013. Today I went up to Truro to play golf at Killiow - near Kea. I went with a fair degree of trepidation as I had felt so worn out on Monday and Tuesday, but it proved to be ok. It was good fun and the format we played made it a bit quicker. and I felt ok which was a great relief! I shall see how I feel tomorrow but have fingers crossed. :-). July 19, 2013 at 2:03 AM. Love that went up to Truro! You know youre way out there when you have to go up to Truro. July 19, 2013 at 4:19 PM.

The Adventures of a Cornish Walker: May 2013

http://racing-ruth.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Cloudy and cool again today. A wet and windy day. all day it was rainy - heavy showers and windy. then about 7.30pm it seemed to lighten and I decided to head out for a walk. The Cot Valley is fast becoming a favourite evening walk. and it rained on me as I walked down but then it was simply gorgeous. high tide and big waves. The rumbling grumble of the huge round stones on the sea floor was accompanied by the crashing waves and that special late evening light. The hedgerows and ...

Saturday, July 27, 2013. A series of tonight's sunset. looking West it was clear and beautiful - looking South Land's End became shrouded in a rain storm. The Adventures of a Cornish Walker: Saturday

http://racing-ruth.blogspot.com/2013/07/saturday.html

Saturday, July 13, 2013. Summer is still here :-) This afternoon I walked down the Cot Valley and had a dip in the sea here. I found a little bit of sand this time - it was low tide - and I floated happily for a while. It was fairly cold. and I would never risk swimming far out when I don't know the seas here. but floating in the shallows was lovely :-). Someone had made this. perched on a big rock.the moon was faintly visible behind it but it doesn't show on the photo. July 14, 2013 at 12:55 AM. 150713T...
