The Travelling McFrothys: June 2012
http://thetravellingmcfrothys.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Highlights from our near- and far-flung adventures. Saturday, June 30, 2012. This was my first TGV ride and my Mom's first big train travel day. I have to say that travelling along at 300 km/hour is pretty impressive. The scenery goes by so quickly it's almost nauseating at times (in a good way! And you pass traffic on freeways as if it is standing still. A few shots from our travel day. The nice view from the Marseille train station when we popped out during our quick stopover. Thursday, June 28, 2012.
The Travelling McFrothys: April 2013

Highlights from our near- and far-flung adventures. Monday, April 15, 2013. Turning Japanese, I Think I'm Turning Japanese. I really think so! Apologies to The Vapors. Oh man, Japan is like a breath of fresh air. Quite literally. It's amazing how much fresher the air is in such a huge metropolis as Tokyo, compared with the smog and smoke that pervades every inch of southeast Asia. I suppose the 25 C temperature drop and the lower humidity doesn't hurt either. Clean and in tip-top condition. But it's noth...

The Travelling McFrothys: August 2012

Highlights from our near- and far-flung adventures. Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Berg Lake Trail - Day 4. Day 4 dawned, and we were up early - today was the big test. After a few consecutive days of hiking, how would we fare on a 23km hike with full packs? Especially with knees that weren't getting any younger. We had eaten all we could to lighten the load, but that only helped so much. Making good time as we passed the Berg Glacier and blew through the flats. On the bridge at the trailhead. Sarah surveys...

Highlights from our near- and far-flung adventures. Wednesday, May 22, 2013. We Can't Get Enough Tokyo! Even after spending a few days in Tokyo we were still marvelling how much there is to do there. Our 'to do' list didn't seem to be getting any shorter! Contrasted with Burmese sidewalk repair. First up, though, we checked out Ueno Park near our hotel - home to many museums, temples, shrines, and a lake. Chad cleanses his hands at one of the shrines. Beneath the torii (shrine gates). This is one of the ...

The Travelling Mars | Follow your dreams……Move the Immovable
Follow your dreams……Move the Immovable. About the travelling Mars. Malaga and Summer comes to a European end. After the US it was a short stop in one of our favourite European cities Malaga. Stayed in a gorgeous little apartment ( FlipKey ) in the town square. Perfect for our favourite pastime of Spanish food consumption, coffee and soaking up a little bit of espanol. A churro cafe downstairs and everything in walking distance. Perfect. Ahhh Summer 2016 you are at an end. Then we had Maine lobster, reall...

Thursday, 24 November 2011. Next stop Malaysia. And time for our next bit of airport strife. we were running a bit late but only mildly panicking. The panic level increased considerably as we realised we were in the wrong terminal! Our terminal was a train ride and long walk away but we made it five minutes before the gates closed. phew! Kuala Lumpur : 03/08/11 - 05/08/11. If you want to make your own Kuala Lumpur, simply take Singapore and place La Paz (Bolivia) on top of it. Thats how it felt; a mi...
