Friday, November 19, 2010. ポカラから乗ったバスは順調に走るかのように思えた、しかしトラックに接触。窓ガラスが数枚割れたが人には被害がなく、ホッと胸をなでおろす。乗客は事故の処理とその後の対処をじっと見守っていたが、２時間後なんの説明も謝罪もなく、バスはまた客を乗せると走り出した。やっぱり、そうか。チトワン国立公園ではジャングルツアーに行った。河で鰐を見たが、探検隊気分で歩いた森の中で見たのは赤い虫とニワトリだけ。しかし、ジャングルに沈む夕日を見ながら飲むビールは最高だった。ネパールのカーカルビッタからインドのラーニーガンジへと橋を渡る。自分の足で国境を自由に往来する気分はなにものにも代えがたい。ネパール人もインド人もノーチェック、インドの入国管理事務所の職員はぐっすり眠りこけていた。 After the safari, we went to Janakpur, noisy and dirty, and witnessed Diwali festival there. Sunday, October 31, 2010. 石畳と階段を、これでもかこれでもかと登り続け、気が折れそうになるころ大きく視界がひろがる。雄大な雪の山塊ダウラギリと刃先のようなアンナプルナがまた一歩近づく。シダやコケにおおわれた深い沢に緑のジャングルを下ると、山裾の村は満開の桜、棚田に刈り取られるのを待つ稲穂が垂れている。 In Pokhara, Obasan and I climbed to the World Peace Pagoda above the lake, followed by a rental dog. A warm up before walking to Poon Hill on the Annapurna circuit, a 5 day loop from Birepani, going to Ghorepani, Gandruk and back to Naya Pul, with clear vistas on the Annapurnas. Not my favorite temple we have been to — it was too crowded which ruins the tranquility. Then we had lunch at a mandoo place.
